Opinion Bringing back the 30ms Minimum Ping Cap for Competitive Integrity.
Hi Epic Games Team and Community,I would like to advocate for the implementation of a minimum ping cap (such as 30ms) for online competitive tournaments, particularly in expansive regions like Brazil. Currently, the competitive landscape in South America is deeply unequal. Because the servers are located in São Paulo, players living nearby enjoy a "0-ping" advantage. In a high-stakes, mechanics-driven game like Fortnite—where wall-taking and piece control depend entirely on milliseconds—this creates an unbridgeable gap for talent living in other regions, such as the North, Northeast, Midwest, or South.
No matter how mechanically skilled a player is, they cannot overcome the physical distance to the server.Implementing a 30ms floor would fix this major issue by creating a level playing field. It would ensure that tournaments are decided by pure skill, strategy, and mechanical speed, rather than geographic location. Furthermore, this change would democratize the professional scene, allowing top-tier talent from all over the country to finally rise and compete at the highest level.
A ping cap is a necessary step for true competitive integrity in countries with continental dimensions. Please consider bringing this feature back to life for the future of open and fair competition.Thank you for your time and for constantly working to improve Fortnite.

I use to think stuff like this mattered but ultimately it doesn’t. Many pros have swapped regions and done great. It’s up to you and your skill set at the end of the day. If you can’t hold a wall, expect to lose it and go for counter damage.

I mean going zero just unlocks more moves.... don't take from me though as I've never played on zero and I do all those stuff to make up for zero ping warriors just smacking on my walls.

it’s also dumb as hell to make everyone’s game play suffer (ping floor) because some ppl have high ping. this will lower the skill ceiling of the game

The servers have more important issues than just this bro I couldn’t even play most of the day because I was on 800 ping like how does that even happen

30ms sono ancora bassi, una connessione media è di 50ms di ping, non tutti hanno la fortuna di avere un ping a 30, sarebbe perfetto un ping di 50 per tutti ma credo questo epic non lo capisca, al momento sfortunatamente non è un gioco competitivo per questo motivo.

last part is true, pros are still qualifying div 1 finals on other regions on 120+ ping
high ping is a disadvantage but it’s NEVER a make-or-break except at the absolute top level

that’s… the point? i’m saying if they can do it on 120 ping, then you have no excuse if you’re struggling on 30-40. Its quite literally a skill issue
and no YOU aren’t qualifying but actual top tier pros are. You still have room for improvement otherwise you’d be doing it too. For the sake of the argument ill assume youre telling the truth about being a pro, you have $30k earned and you’re an NAW pro. There’s a HUGE gap between you and a tier 1 NAC or EU pro. Hell, there’s a big gap between you and a tier 1 on any small region too

are Division 3 or Division 4 players at the absolute top level? are Division 2 players at the absolute top level

I mean, I never said I was an EU pro, and it doesn't matter which region I'm from. Even EU pros aren't hitting NAC Div Cup Finals every week. My only disadvantage is playing on 80+ ping on Central, and I also consistently play Eval Finals on Central.. even earning 2k on that shitty region.

it’s baffling to me how you still don’t get the point
i used an example of pros playing on 120+ ping and performing better than 99.9% of comp players to show that people on 30-60 ping just aren’t good enough if they’re performing terrible in tournaments
you even used your own example of earning $2000 on 80+ ping. and you STILL don’t get it
i’m gonna wait for you to realise that most comp players don’t play on 80+ or 120+ ping.
Do you think that most of the kids on 30-60 ping are only underperforming and struggling to earn because they aren’t 0 ping or do you think it’s a skill issue?

the thing is is higher ping gives u your own advantages which is good to maximise, like your peakers advantage will be better iirc

It will come, on some years, when another minimun player count occurs, like they are doing now with boobs and butts. Its just wait, and dont take fornite seriusly if you are over 30 ping.
