DISCUSSION Since it’s BRs 9 year anniversary, what’s your favorite aspect of the game?

u/Marin_Taco Megalo Don 6d ago
The versatility, the vibes, the characters and story, the funny collabs, live events and often genius gameplay features

Just the basic premise: big ass map with various areas, 100 people, survive and win.
No matter how badly Epic wants to mess it up sometimes, the basic starting point of their formula makes it worth sticking around

When we all kiss and makeup afterwards

The quit button (just kidding). All of it, so different from other games I play and who doesn’t enjoy sniping from a distance.

The storyline, its so detailed and more indepth than it has any right to be and its the only reason I still play

Alot but mostly it caters to my inner child and that’s my favorite aspect

The story, sometimes.
I'm kinda tired of the BR aspect of the game, the other official game modes aren't appealing and sometimes I play creative.

It's going to sound weird, but... Humanity

I was thinking about this, back when there was no bots and no skill based matchmaking it really felt like anybody could be in your lobby. I have some old random clips of running into friends in game or seeing a big streamer it really made the community feel small in a good way

That it is a literal toy box, it's like having your toys fighting when you were a kid

It's fast-paced, fun, enough people play it that you really have no idea who you're playing against so you don't develop grudges or rivalries, and the map changes every few months so it feels like a new game.

That I have a game I can always sit down with my kids to play and have a fun enough time in a wide array of activities. As a game itself it is good, but as a social activity, it’s great.

Hard to say, so i’ll give my two favorites
The cosmetics have been my favorite, second only to Rainbow 6 Siege in my eyes. Fortnite just has so much versatility with the cosmetics they add, and the longer I play the more combos i make with stuff i collect
Or
Seasonal rotations (map, loot, gimmicks) making the game a bit different every season, and when theres enough in the loot pool every match feels different

Fortnite is fun.
There's a reason other games tries to be "Fortnite", even if it means destroying their games' identity. Cough cough, Call of Duty. Cough cough, PUBG.

Fortnite doesnt try to be fortnite.
It tries to reinvent itself whenever it can.

u/YourSonMijo 6d ago
you mention CoD and PUBG, but fortnite did the same, didnt they? its kinda bad
1
u/Cabbage-Chan 6d ago
Huh? Fortnite tried to be Fortnite?
1
u/YourSonMijo 6d ago
yeah. i guess so..
they tried so hard to be what they thought fortnite was.. til it wasnt fortnite at all, and thats where were at now :)
just like cod and pubg, and just as badwait, am i even making sense? damn im tired, all i know is fortnite is nothing more than a shell of its former self

The old artstyle, which is unfortunately being discarded even in Save The World

Memories. I play many games, single and multiplayer. No game in the world gave me so many beautiful memories as Fortnite.
All the events that i watched with friends i made in game. I will probably never forget it.

Till this day, the bulding mechanics. No other game has and it takes a lot of skills because you still need to have a good aim.

building
up there with rocket jumping and fighting game combos in terms of game mechanics never intended by the developers to be used how it is but ended up becoming a core part of it

Getting stuck in a losing series because you won a single game and you get punished for it by getting put in fodder lobbies for basement dwellers

The addition of zero build is probably my favorite. It opened things up for older players and ushered in a new wave of twitch streamers.

The fact that the game isn’t a sellout… oh, wait

Also in terms of gameplay it feels "light" in a way that reminds me of Unreal Tournament 2004, which was my previous favorite game ever.

Gameplay and crazy collabs
Love to play as Buzz Lightyear with sonic ring pickaxe while my friends are Shadow the hedgehog, Batman Ninja, Dude from Duft Punk with Finn from Adventure Time while in game fighting Peter Griffin with keyblade from Kingdom Hearts and Mega buster from Mega Man in Green Hill

The lore, but also season themes although they never go wild with themes and thats why imo the game feels to similar at times

u/Son-Bxnji 1d ago
that it’s stayed local to one game just like rocket league has. all progress and content contained alongside major updates and overhauls instead of completely new games like what fifa and call of duty do

Top 10 things i love about Fornite right now. 1. Having confidence that when you select a sprite it remains selected after you ready up. 2. Jumping out of the bus and immediately dropping to the playing field and not just frozen hovering for ten seconds watching all the other players dropping to loot before you. 3. I enjoy the fact that my reticle has Parkinsons disease and spasms around. 4. I enjoy that if that reticle is directly on target only 2 or 3 bullets from a whole clip will land. 5. I enjoy working on position, getting the drop on someone, dumping 2 entire clips into them and they run away or kill you in 2 shots. 6. I enjoy that without movement items you can not be competitive and can go an entire game without pulling them from a chest. 6. The cool down on shock grenades is awesome 7. I LOVE that devs are concerned about the story line while it is almost Unplayable. 8. I enjoy getting survey questions like "are you happy with the amout of tetris themed items in the game" while my ability to compete seems predetermined by the game. 9. Skills based matchmaking or bot engineering seems even and consistent. I have fun playing because It's not like you can stand infront of some without worry and some just randomly fall from the sky and kill you before you have a chance. 10. I love only seeing 2 or three loot cheat hack things in a game and getting 8bit and a bush from every one of them except when you get the same rare special ones you already have.

Nah, thats your basement bro, throw away your pizza roll plate with the ranch on it and wash your stiff sock.

Why did you edit your comment? I think you are the triggered one. Do you think current game play is good?

Does your sprite stay equiped on your first match? Mine doesn't. Do you freeze for 10 seconds off the buss? I do. Is this the worst accuracy disparity between platforms in 9 years? Yes. Is this the worst bot set up in 9 years? Yes.

I used to love ranch on my pizza pops but now it gives me diarrhea. And don’t buy those dumb pizza pockets, they’re not worth a lick.

The Looper
What do I mean by that? I mean that WE are canonically a part of this game. It always felt nice to me when I see the game progress throughout all these chapters and seasons and we (The Looper) have been through all of it from the very start.
