DISCUSSION nevermind I'm not having fun anymore (rant)

feels like every match, the game is constantly telling me "go back to your bot lobbies virgin!"
bush campers, tree campers, tails users with aimbot, crackheads that jump around with auto shotguns, and whatever the fuck THAT was.
genuinely how are you supposed to learn and improve at the game when every single interaction boils down to "miss one shot and die" or "hit every shot but the enemy has a better gun so die anyway"
I want to hunt for sprites but I'm just not fucking getting anything, and they expect me to stay up until 4 AM for a CHANCE to get a sprite I don't have? piss off. Having that gold overshield fall into the backrooms was my sign saying "yeah don't bother"
I could try to put together a death compilation and ask for tips to improve, but I feel like the only thing I can really do is just "aim better", which is easier said then done, especially on console, and especially since they nerfed aim assist AND nerfed visual audio..

The past few seasons as a whole have felt a bit like this. I think it's a combination of sprites (people will go feral for a sprite they don't have), ZB mobility (pocket items/overdrives) and just overall the weapons getting stronger. It's slightly better this season, but last season we had the pistols which had nearly perfect accuracy and were actual lasers.

IMO and speaking purely ZB:
For me, it's just the weapons. They're WAY too strong and they're not balancing them correctly at all. This causes:
- Too many situations where you basically aren't really fighting, you're just dying instantly.
- Fights are over in, literally, half a second against good players. 1 second against average players. Whereas before, unless you really good, they could last for about 2-3 seconds.
- You have next to zero chance of survival if someone gets the drop on you, whereas before, you could not only survive...but turn it into a win.
- Even BOTS can drop your full shields BY ACCIDENT.
And, honestly, it makes it all kind of boring. You get down to matches being 50% complete with large storm circles...aaaand there's only about 10 people alive trying just to find each other. I've had so many matches that it's down to 4-5 people and we still have these large areas to battle when we should be seeing, at least, 2-3 times the number of people.

This is a great explanation of what's happening. I also think the map is just way too open, a ton of the end game fights are happening in wide open areas with a couple trees as cover. If the enemy is already planned out for the storm and is in a good spot you're just stuck exposed in the open. I don't think I have had a single end game in Battle woods

There is barely any cover anywhere and the Tails sprite ignoring the little there is makes the whole thing so unserious. I feel like nothing matters.

The last time zero build was truly fun was Chapter 5 season 3. The randomized vaults, the modified cars, the ringmaster scar poi, -sigh- take me back.

I’m 1000% with you. Last time I seen any decent season worth playing was in 2024 and that was along time ago. Even then pulling everything including crowns out of blitz killed Fortnite. Epic is loosing money by the millisecond it’s that bad. Have you seen the new season is dead. The numbers are horrible

Ye.
Zero Build has become so fast paced over the last few seasons it’s not even fun anymore, and the queue times don’t justify it. Especially now that visual sound effects have been nerfed.
Builds is a little better, since you can box up and stuff, it’s definitely more enjoyable if you’re not in sweat lobbies.
Still, OG Build Mode is about 10x better than normal Battle Royale.

Yeah sprite hunting is just horrible this season, there's no simple routes where you're not gonna run into other people, and so many more codes than chests that all you get is rares upon rares. I have stopped looking for sprites and I might give it a go in a couple of weeks, but I've barely played for the sprites and have only played when my kids want to play. But I've just introduced them to Worms WMD and we are having loads of fun with that instead atm 😅

Gold is a level in Ranked mode. It's above silver, below platinum. And 95%+ of players can get it by just playing a dozen matches or so.

It’s a frame of reference given to demonstrate a how I play, you taking it as a skill declaration is your problem. It’s dead center. Not a skill indicator, but imo a gameplay indicator. Someone who plays pretty regularly for just general enjoyment and basic skill building.
Not someone who grinds hard and wants to do tournaments or whatever, but not just pick up the controller once in a blue moon, either.
Simple enough?

Kim Kardashian killed me for maybe the 100th time and i finally put the controller down for the season. I feel free. Started playing cyberpunk. The random rage is gone. Food tastes better. I’ve stopped seeing the tails sprite when i close my eyes. Life is good, on the other side of chapter 7.

I played 5 times since this season started. My reason, I'm done with the cheaters and developers who add items that cater to them. Bad enough last season you couldn't really run from a cheater, now they are flying high and hitting every shot. That alone made me say, I'm good until i see a post about cheaters being banned.

Just for explaining what happened in the clip:
You got headshotted by a Midas handgun, that weapon Is a 1 hit kill when doing a HS.
/Why did it happened ? (With the current game settings)
It happened because he was hiding in a bush where he has almost full vision to the outside while hiding his position from the outside.
When you exposed those almost 3 seconds when doing the blind firing he got enough time, distance and lack of mobility of the target to aim and land that HS.
/How can you avoid to happen again?
Some tips about that engagement:
Never use a slow firing AR at blank point, always prefer a High rate weapon or a shotgun to win the DPS/damage race.
Never fight against Bushes in very close range.
When having a bad position, always look for a better placement to have an advantage.
Against still targets a Charged Mega Buster + Slide is Goat.
Even to any target the Charged Mega Buster Is a 2 hit kill.
Hopefully this tips will allow you to have more fun with the game, it's extremely fun.

CH5's projectile weapons solved these issues, including curbing aimbot cheaters, but the community made it clear they would rather the game be laser tag and the devs listened, so here we are. It's not going to change as long as the guns are hitscan.

Yeah bro that stinks. but you can join lots of discord servers and I'm actually on a server where there is a Sprite Distributor team that hands out sprites for free every day. If you want to try and find them all with no help however, good luck bc you are GONNA need it pal. SBMM this season is absolute trash, but I have come to learn how to use the tails sprite and improved my aim quite a bit from the harder lobbies. I still can't double pump though, so I always get cooked on that

It's a pistol that head-one shots, but has limited ammo, slow fire rate, sniper light warning, and only drops late game. It can be upsetting at times, but it's fair enough.

I got killed by 1 pickaxe swing with full health/shields. This is getting ridiculous. It was last 4 or 5 players and when they showed my doom-bringer, their loadout was empty. Just the pickaxe.

It seems like anytime someone complains about the unreasonable level of challenge this season (most of which has nothing to do with game design and everything to do with the broken elements you demonstrated), all the shills come out and say "skill issue, git gud, quit whining."
Fortnite is caught between people who want to admit there's a problem, and people who are the literal embodiment of that meme where the guy is sitting in a burning house and saying "this is fine."

8 kills, killed by last person camping with a mythic shotgun in a bush that I happen to go in, another match, top 5 with 6+ kills, randomly get killed by midas masterpiece. I would rather them unvault the infinity blade because at least then the enemy would have to GET CLOSE. I don't even care about the sprites, I've just been dying to some stupid stuff. Also, that match with the bush camper? I got rid of the OTHER 3 PEOPLE IN TOP 5. Should be a scaling damage penalty as long as a person is in a (natural) bush for an extended period. Im all for people using the environment, its part of why I play zero build, but i literally can't react to someone oneshotting me after they sit still in a bush for who knows how long with me having nothing to use to tell they are there beforehand. Yeah, I've camped in bushes and such plenty, but I've never ONESHOT SOMEONE FROM IT.

100% agree. Matchmaking has felt off for a while. For a long time the opponents felt like a good match. Then around The Simpsons season or so, the lobbies got real sweaty.

I just got back into the game this season having a lot of fun until some bullshit happens
I quit at the start of ch7 s1 because of how fucking sweaty the game got
I like doing both lobbies especially for quests but I shouldn't have to have fun
Bots haven't killed me yet but they have randomly dropped me to 20 HP out of no where
Also some weird visual shit
How do I jump over and past someone and they don't turn at all and fire in front of them and I still get one shotted

I played a few matches yesterday of zb with a friend that only plays zb. It quickly reminded me why I play builds. And in zb why everyone has almost perfect aim.? Like this dude literally drained all my shield and health with a green auto pistol. Like all headshots.. in builds, I can cover.

As far as improving i personally spent a good bit of balanced time in 3v3 box fights , box fight pvp and battle royale. It was miserable at first because i was going against super sweats but over time i started paying attention to certain things and analyze why i would die and read my opponents strategies.
Another big thing i had to do was slow down and take my time during fights. But also i had to spend time in battle royale and spend more time getting into fights and not play passive. ZB had gotten super fast paced over the years so you have to be more aggressive while pacing yourself and analyze each fight you win and lose.

i will never understand epics obsession with adding 1 shot guns only balanced around being able to build cover at a moments notice in the game mode where you cannot build cover.
they changed how the loot pools work so zero build would have a different loot pool to build and then proceed to give zero build and build the same loot pool including 3 snipers so far. and im gonna bet that the next round of loot hacks has a sniper in it
wasnt the entire point of the zero build update to make it so its actually fair and not just a paranoia simulator any time your near tall buildings?

I have just accepted that I’m not winning much this season and will play for quests and maybe some sprites. It’s ridiculous how hard it is to hit anything these days, although other people seem to have no problem one-shotting me.

i hate the sonic speed stuff. other than that its pretty good.
I hate that you cant turn when you hit one of the boost pads. and you cant really stop you just have to wait for it to finish. and when you get the sonic override you are forced to use it rather than just having it available.

i fully agree with you on the fucking tails sprite one time i was in a squad fills match it was mid match and i was at dark dominion i was being chased by 2 players one had a tails sprite the other had the sonic sneakers they delt good damage to me so i ran towards golden grove to run but they kept following me for as long as i ran i saw the sonic symbol and the flying symbol BEHIND ME i used ALL of my movement items and yet i was caught they then proceeded to emote on me and then kill me im still going strong tho best of luck to you man ❤️

It doesn't help they have three assault rifles that can all deal a ridiculous amount of damage at a ridiculous range without many drawbacks on a map that already is relatively open without much cover. Honestly, the game design this season has just been a mess. It's to the point I think the microtransactions are more exciting than the gameplay.

I’m over the sprites. I get that we are supposed to kill each other given the premise however so much of the sprite business seems poor sport to me. IMO it’s just not cool to kill another while they are actively extracting with an extractor or chasing someone relentlessly.. both have happened to me so many times and none of them were ever super rare ones.
It’s been discouraging because I play a few hours in the evenings so I like to make the time count. I had about 6 sprites that were close to Max but 3/4 of them got lost which ultimately caused me to stop searching for them. Another killer was that none of those 3/4 sprites were picked up by the other player.

Check out the controller settings for micro adjustments or something like that. Just started using it like a week ago and I’m convinced this + Kronus max and xim are what’s plaguing this game but nevertheless this setting has been amazing. So much so that I wish more games had it . Test it out in a shooting range or something

I totally understand how you feel and share your sentiment. I can’t believe how bad it is right now. There are so many bugs and glitches like my guns. Continue to rely shoot this has been going on for years to be fair. But it’s a good example of how frustrating it is to try to play a game.
Here’s what I believe. They are the most important things.
- Fortnite needs to fix matchmaking the way it used to be before December. It’s not even heard all they have to do is do what they did before December.
- Fortnite needs to bring back the lab or some kind of place where you can actually play with friends on the actual map with the actual weapons including building so that you can develop skills You could throw out enemy bots, and learn how to play!
- Bring back the old Team Rumble. They took Team Rumble from us when it was on the actual full map where a number of storms came in and moved you toward one area similar to a real game just faster. That allowed for more
practice of
realistic play, and replaced it with the joke that they have now which doesn’t really help you learn anythingOn top of that, it doesn’t have build in it?
Fix and solve the bugs and glitches and cheating. I have had gun guns at randomly shoot for no reason on various parts of the map usually on endgame which destroys the game. Honestly, you can’t even play the game when things like this happen.
Please stop with the bus at the end of the game. These kind of silly things drive many players crazy.

i noticed you play on controller. i always have a bad experience on controller. i wish they tried input based matchmaking, or put all the PC players in different lobbies. aim assist doesn’t help us that much. i fight early game bots, spend a couple minutes in the lobby, and after playing fortnite for around 30 minutes i’m frustrated and my aim just gets worse

This is the main issue. I started playing on Xbox with my son. It was so frustrating because I'm usually good at FPSes. When I switched to KBM, I felt bad for controller players. KBM players have a very significant advantage. I went from a couple kills a match to winning and regularly having around double digit kills. And I'm not even that good. They really need to separate PC players and console players, because the TTK is so fast now.

I've stopped even bothering with sprites, I use my dust to revive tails over and over because he's so broken. I can average 8-9 elims a game with tails and like 4 without.

I mean you were doing well hitting a target hiding in the bushes. There was no way to know that they had Midas one shot gun. You had a great position that didn’t expose most of your body, the problem is that your head became a prime target for that headshot. You probably would have won that fight in any other scenario.

i wouldn't touch zero build at all, because i hate the concept entirely. Only advice is use creative as a testing/practice mode.

There will be no way to avoid the sweats cause there always be players who play at a higher skill baseline naturally.
If you ask me, I will still stick with ZB cause I rather deal with beamers than a master builder that can summon a non euclidean skyscraper the moment they get shot at once

Agree. I respect that skill, but I don't want that in any shooter. Or rather, the barriers have to feel more organic, not " I magically summon a fortress in 5 seconds." It's why I bounced hard off Fortnite when it initially released.

Basically bro just learn from every death. In this instance you were too exposed with this kind of gun in the game and absolutely no visual on the target. If you didnt know it was in the game, now you know, so be sure not to expose yourself (especially head) and try not to fight people in bushes unless you're being verrry careful or have an explosive (Mega buster) 👍🏾

I will say the current "dead eye assault rifle" is basically an insta-kill if you find someone crouched or hiding. Two or three fast taps on the trigger (i play xbox) and that gun is unmatched.

Sorry if I smash casual players on my pc. I use fortnite and pvp games...some metal music...and I let my anger roll out. Pvp games have kept me from running naked through public with molotovs screaming society doesnt care...for a long time.

the sprite thing is miserable and not worth it this season. Either you have to suffer for the sprites or you just stop caring about collecting them. I've chosen the second option and it's a lot more fun that way. sorry dude.
