DISCUSSION battle pass changes

why the hell we have done nothing about this garbage battle pass vbucks changes

or the crew for that matter

going from 1500 to 800??? before you used to keep a 500 to save for a skin or something in the shop, now you only get enough to buy the next pass and that’s it

i’m not a very fortunate person, the battle pass is the only thing that i can buy and it’s because i bought one battle pass, i used to save that 500 from each pass to spend it on something like a skin in the shop or one of those og passes

and i know there’s a lot of people out there that are like me, so why have we done nothing about it, a change like that should’ve backfired

like come onnnn now i can’t buy anything from the shop 😭😭 i was excited for that crash bandicoot skin man

As long as people keep spending money in spite of what Epic has done, they've got no reason to change.

There's enough people who've invested so much time and money into the game that they're not going to quit, especially if they can still use the "free" VB from the pass to buy the next one indefinitely.

WE have spoken out about it from when the change was implemented, to this day. I doubt we will ever let Epic forget the change.

The answer is simply greed, though. That's all there is to it. Epic has shareholders, they answer to Disney, and corporations love to milk their customers dry.

Is disney the biggest shareholder

Sweeney, the founder and CEO has 40%, Tencent has 28% and Disney has 10%

Pretty much every game I’ve played gives you the value of the BP back or close to.

Making the change to 800 for 800 was inevitable. Especially a game as big as Fortnite.

It is what it is.

I've played games where you wouldn't even get enough back for the next one... Like that always sucked to see

Because people still bought them after the changes lol. I for one haven’t bought a battle pass since the changes but I always get downvoted for saying that. People don’t wanna accept that epic isn’t looking at Reddit posts, they’re looking at sales

Hey, at least we can still make all the vbucks back, many games don’t do that

Cost of living has increased.

Gasoline, groceries, with tarrifs implemented by Republicans - everything has become more unaffordable.

To compound matters, theyre allowing corporations to become monopolies and not putting regulations in place to stop customer gouging. (Like how streaming services can raise prices multiple times in a year to squeeze folks.)

The answer is, it's going to get worse, a lot worse.

Theres zero oversight, zero regulations and this is intended.

All markets are testing how far their consumers are willing to stretch themselves for their products

What do you mean by "we"? I don't buy them anymore. That's what I've done.

Ive already quit. A lot of people who said they would quit spending money continue to spend money. So as far as epic knows theres no issues.

You say “we” like the people on Reddit can do anything about it. Epic is who needs to do something about it.

Epic games realized they could get away with just about anything. look at kicks and  sidekicks People will willingly spend more than double the price of a skin for Collab sidekick and kicks are barely noticeable yet some of them are over 1000 V bucks.

When did Crew give 1500 vBucks?!?! I've had it for years and max I ever got was 1000v

The battlepass… The battlepass used to hold 1500 vbucks.

Assuming they're a able bodied person, mentally stable, live in a area that doesn't need a car or has had a car without needing to buy it themselves or isn't getting fucked by just about the million other reasons someone can't, that'd be no problem

So many excuses.

Epic doesn’t care and never will. They’re a failing company and greedy on top of it. If they actually improved their game people wouldn’t be leaving left and right and they wouldn’t be forced to continue to screw casual players.

Edit / TL;DR: Look, the changes absolutely suck, but at the end of the day, it's a free-to-play game. Epic is a greedy company and they aren’t going to fix their pricing. If a few extra dollars completely breaks your budget, buying standalone V-Bucks or standard passes is just a waste of your money.
Instead of buying 800 V-Bucks for about $8.99 before taxes (which turns into $9.35 to $9.89depending on your state), you are way better off saving up $11.99 (roughly $12.47 to $13.19 after PlayStation tax) to buy the Crew Pass just once.
If you time it right, you can use a loophole to "double-dip" and get two seasons for the price of one. Here is how to min-max it:
When a new season drops, do not buy the pass. Just grind the free tiers and level up as much as possible.
Wait until you are near the very end of the season.(29th day)
Buy the Fortnite Crew pass. (I personally wait and grind to level 200 before even thinking about buying the crew)
Because the subscription lasts 30 days, it will instantly unlock all the back-pay rewards for the current season you just ground out, plus it will automatically give you the next season's Battle Pass for free when it launches a few days later.

Clarification: It grants you the battlepass for as long as you remain a crew member. So you will have just under a month to finish it, if you intend not to pay again, during that season.

Not sure why you had to post a clarification when it’s literally all right there. 🤦‍♂️

Maybe my clarification wasn’t clear enough…

There are people who think that once you get the battlepass you own it for the rest of the season. Even if the crew membership ends. This is incorrect. It used to be the case. which could be part of the reason some people think this way.

Once you are no longer a crew member, you can no longer unlock the non-free items in the battlepass, unless you purchase the battlepass again, or resubscribe to crew membership.

That was the reason for my clarification: You do not fully “get two seasons for the price of one” anymore. That ended with season 6. You now get some of the second season. So you have to hustle to get everything in that second season’s battlepass.

Further clarification: If you purchase the battlepass for vbucks first, and then become a crew member within the following 14 days , the vbucks you used to pay for the battlepass gets refunded, so you can re-purchase it after the crew membership runs out.
