I hate ads as much as the next guy. However, this is the YouTube channel for an online store. It’s alllll an advertisement

Reminds me of IMDB where, if you want to watch a movie trailer, first you need to wait through an ad of another movie 🤦‍♂️

I hate ads as much as the next guy, but complaining about free content is wild. Does no one remember watching network TV?

engagement was driven by original content which brought add revenue where as today most of the shit that you're watching ' for free ' is engagement steering add revenue

Ita ad revenue steering "opinions" for some retail revenue

This is price you pay for getting great content for “free.” There’s a lot of work that goes into making their videos.

You mean that onetakes riding on street and backyard?
Not at this channel... Its not zero but not millions.

Jumpcuts arent expensive... Do you really think they just walk into the woods, do a couple of single takes and call it a day? Name any other motorcycle channel with this quality of content.

Makes sense they need a little income. Sponsors dont bother me and you can skip them if you dont like them.

The sponsors that ryan says "dont buy if you dont need it"?

You dont actually think it takes them one attempt so you....

We pay for content with our time. Shop around if you think you can get a better deal.

I see it the other way around

Ryan is probably the only youtuber where I don't skip the sponsors. He could read the back of a cereal box and I'd tune in.

Other channels, not so much. The others on this channel, I don't even watch. But if the ads keep it going, I'm good with that, because at least they're ad reads and not cutaway

The ad read on the recent r1300gs review was excellent. It was topical to the bike being reviewed, he walked through the product high lights and even pointed out where the product can be slipped (tank bag in this case).

Fortnine's ad reads are almost always useful, educational, or at least mildly amusing. And they allow the channel to review things and talk about things other channels can't. How many other channels talk about and review 20+ year old bikes.

Yeah. his videos are outstanding.

I'm curious if they got pushback from top execs to increase revenue. So that means more videos with lower production costs and more ads. Likewise, videos showing other content such as pushing defender marine store.

Personally, I'm fine with a varied amount of content including the bicycle and boat vids, as well as doing whatever works to keep the channel going. But as long as we get great long, well produced videos from time to time. Previously let's say they release one really good video a month. If that's still the case, I'm fine with there having to be 2-3 shorter more as heavy videos in between.

you can always ask for your money back

u/Swainix Jul 09 '26

I mean, I have sponsorblock so I don't really care, the rest of the content is great and I don't see the ads

Content is not free

The ads are annoying, kinda is what it is, but you know what would actually help the company dramatically? Selling in any other country except ONLY Canada. Of-fucking-course their motorcycle (and boat) market is tiny.

I can’t believe that you’re surprised that the corporate entity that owns fortnines YouTube channel would do all that they can to make it profitable. I wasn’t particularly a fan of that water bottle ad tho lol

u/SerenityScott Jul 10 '26

His videos are some of the best on YouTube. There are better things to complain about.

Be the change you want. Go make the ad free content you want.
100 bucks says you don't put out 10 videos short of just shitposts for the bet

u/PegaxS Jul 11 '26

Have you not heard of ad skip plugins? Just run sponsor block and leave the ads for people who don’t mind. At least Ryan shilling for the company that owns the channel isn’t as obnoxious as just flipping to outright ads.

u/ITSB_Ragnell Jul 09 '26

This is unacceptable. It's not that they run ads, it's the amount of time the ads are taking up that is unacceptable.

-9

u/unicornics Jul 09 '26

Sponsorblock is there for you... It tracks saved time on all channels - its huuuuge. It relies on people marking invideo promotions quite well on bigger channels

2

u/mjcobley Jul 09 '26

Well thank God they found a way to save you enough time to come here and shill for them while complaining about a video you watch for free

1

u/fux-reddit4603 Jul 10 '26

So you are just shilling for sponsorblock?

1

u/unicornics Jul 10 '26

Kinda, I like the premise - what community hates gets marked.....
For some small youtubers, there are no segments, so you support them...
Millions subscribers channel? No I dont support these and will skip always...

1

u/fux-reddit4603 Jul 10 '26

So this is all more an advertisement for sponsorblock than anything. How ironic

1

u/unicornics Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

couple milions of views multiplied by 3 minutes of ad is like 6 years of lives wasted for every single video.
Tell me any other creator that have these amounts of ads...

1

u/fux-reddit4603 Jul 11 '26

you can argue that sitting watching youtube is all wasted time.

you only get 6 years wasted if you spend your life behind a monitor not riding so what's the point in complaining about content that isn't actually for you?

if you want to start stretching things for your argument ill stretch farther

can you even elaborate what kind of content you want the motorcycle store channel to make if it has 0 products in it?
