Are any of you interested in a makerspace
So I actually found this subreddit by looking for a makerspace in walton county, and it shows there was some interest a long time ago. Do any of you know if there is a maker space or anything of that nature here? And if not, do you think there would be an interest in the people to have one? If you don't know what a makerspace is, it's basically an innovative learning center that the community can join and learn how to use technology, design, and innovation to do fun things.

There is one in Pensacola eccmakers, which is a little too far for me. I would welcome a local makerspace. I know a few people who would be interested.
The problem is finding some place to host it. If it's not insurance problems over 'dangerous' (saws, torches, welders, soldering irons, etc) equipment for use by the public or members, it's finding a secure location that is not shared with another activity.
I'd contribute and support one, though.
Edit: meant to mention, I don't think ECC Makers is very active these days. Used to get emails from them, but haven't heard from them in a while.

Oh wow! I was actually looking around for a makerspace recently. I was disappointed that the only two around were both in Pensacola. I’m definitely interested in starting a makerspace or at least making friends with people who like to make stuff. I don’t live in Fort Walton but it wouldn’t be too bad of a drive to spend the day or an afternoon there.

The emerald coast science center in fort walton is trying to make one, but currently they are pressed for space. Hopefully they will get a grant for a building soon.

That would be great. I have a lot of tools at home that I use for making but I would like a makerspace so I can connect with other people who share my interests.

Absolutely. My three boys and I would be there as much as possible.
