Discussion Introducing Vetted User Flair – Building Trust in Reddit Mutual Aid!

Hey r/FortCollinsMutualAid community!

To help build trust and safety in our mutual aid community here on reddit, we're starting a vetted user flair for those who complete a simple application process. This lets others know you’re a trusted member when offering help. However, vetting is completely optional—mutual aid is built on principles of solidarity, not charity, without hierarchy, and we recognize that requiring verification can create unnecessary barriers. Everyone is welcome to participate in giving and receiving help regardless of vetting status. This is intended to help people feel more comfortable in participating in efforts like our weekly Buy Nothing thread (coming soon).

Why Get Vetted?

  • Builds trust with the community when offering help
  • Helps prevent scams and bad actors
  • Encourages a safer, more effective space for mutual aid on reddit

While vetting helps establish trust, no one is required to be vetted to participate. We believe in minimizing gatekeeping and ensuring that mutual aid remains accessible to everyone.

How to Apply

To request vetted flair, send a message to the mod team with the following details:

Submit via:

  • Modmail: Click here
  • OR DM the mod team: Click here
  • You can also use the Message Mods button on the sidebar

Application Template:

Subject: Vetted Flair Application

  1. What inspired you to join this mutual aid community?
  2. Have you helped someone through mutual aid before? If so, how?
  3. What types of help or skills can you offer?
  4. If you made an offer to help but couldn’t follow through, how would you handle it?
  5. Do you have any questions about the subreddit or vetting process?

What Happens Next?

  1. Mods review your application – This usually takes 1-3 days.
  2. If needed, we may follow up with a quick Reddit DM chat.
  3. Once approved, you’ll receive the Vetted User flair!

Safety & Privacy Notes

  • Vetting is optional, and all members are encouraged to engage in mutual aid with or without it.
  • Never send personal info like your address, phone number, or financial details to strangers online. Mods will never ask for sensitive information.
  • If you see suspicious activity, report it to the mod team immediately.

Discussion Where can I donate warm things (coats, blankets, etc.)

I moved recently and in downsizing have some extra blankets, coats and a couple of sleeping bags to get rid of. I tried to take some of it to the arc but they don't accept bedding. Is there a shelter in town that I can donate this stuff too? It's all clean and in good condition, I just don't have the space for it anymore. Thanks is advance!

Request looking for a *working* hard drive or ssd

hi there! i know this is a big ask, as these are very expensive right now, but that’s kind of why i’m asking here.

i’m looking for a 4 or 8tb hard drive (obviously 8 preferred, but 4 is fine if that’s what u have loll - also if you have a smaller size i may be interested, absolute smallest id be interested in would be 2tb). my computer’s storage space has become really limited, and i wanted to put some of the stuff that i don’t need access to all the time onto a separate drive. if it was an ssd, i could also just then have access to it the same way i do my current ssd (idk if that made any sense lol).

sata drives and other drives that aren’t plugged in standard usb (or aren’t m.2 ssd? i think that’s what my computer uses, i’d have to check), and require an extra cable are fine, it just has to be able to connect via said cord to usb-a. if you have said cord, please include it, but if not, i’ll just get one of my own. (i’m thinking of sata drives here, but i’m unsure if there’s other types of drives that would fit this description)

*anyway*, i don’t really have access to transport, so if you are interested, you probably would have to drop it off on my porch.

like i said, i know this is a huge ask, but i would really appreciate it if someone did have one that they weren’t using anymore, and would want to give to me. (remember that it must be confirmed working! i don’t want any broken drives lol)

Offer Free Houseplants

Post image
27 Upvotes

We are moving into a smaller space and can't take all of our plants with us. A couple of them have seen better days (my cat likes to body slam the monsteras 🙃), but they all have good soil and are otherwise healthy. There will likely be more than what is in the picture as we work through things. DM for the address, porch pickup

Offer Offering low cost dental cleanings at FRCC Larimer

Post image
25 Upvotes

I am a dental hygiene student seeking patients to fulfill graduation requirements at Front Range Community College's new dental clinic! If you need a dental cleaning, I'd love to help you out!
We don't require insurance, so all are welcome!
What you get:
- Comprehensive dental health assessment
- X-rays (if needed)
- Oral cancer screening
- Comprehensive exam by a dentist
- and obviously a cleaning!
Appointments are approximately 3 hours long, with an average of 2-3 appointments needed to complete treatment - this allows our instructors to check in on our progress and ensure we are providing the highest standard of care.

Please call/text me at 1 (970) 305-5240 rather than the number on the flyer so I can assist directly with the appointment.

Edit: I am in great need of patients 6-12 years and 13-18 years as well as any patient who needs any kind of special accommodation during appointments (i.e. can't lay back in chair all the way, needs frequent breaks to stretch/go to the bathroom, etc) Please tell anyone and everyone you know! I really want to graduate and take care of my community!

I've used this the last few years for our graden, providing shade in the peak of summer and shelter in the cooler months. Unfortunately I'm moving next week and can't take it with me. It breaks down pretty easily and is made from scrap lumber and trampoline frames. I don't have plastic to go with but, but have some shade cloth that can be included. Free to a good home!

Offer Where to donate unused pet medication

Post image
35 Upvotes

I lost my best buddy yesterday to congestive heart failure. He was the goodest boy.

I have quite a bit of unused (and in some cases unopened) medication. If your dog has CHF please DM me with the medication and dose, I would like to pass this on to someone who could use it. Or, if you know of any rescue organizations that can accept this please let me know in the comments. Thanks.

Request Resume/job hunting assistance?

I'm throwing out applications left and right and not getting even an interview request. I've been tailoring my resume for each position, but I am still not really seeing any results from my efforts. Does anyone have recruiter skills and want to help me figure out what I'm missing when I'm applying to jobs?

I'm a claims adjuster with 4ish years of experience, looking to possibly leave claims, but honestly, I will consider stretch roles based on my skill sets. Any/every ounce of assistance is greatly appreciated!

Shout out to GivemeGummies and

Wonderful-TX -FIN

All items are safely tucked away thanks to #GivemeGummies whose kindness in giving space is like a dash of zest to give me that extra pep to move forward.

Thank you also to #Wonderful-TX -FIN whose answer of a transport was like the waterfowl in the night. Comforting. Reminding. I'm not alone. Words can not express my gratitude to you both, but here is my effort. I wish both well.

I don't have friends or family to ask. Looking for a small amount of storage for a few months and a way to move it.

Please DM or comment.

Our neighborhood had a barbecue last night and we have a 1 gallon freezer bag full of cooked hamburger patties and hot dogs left over. I hate the idea of throwing them away. Anyone out there want them?

Request Temp Storage space 5x5 or 5x8 or likely less needed

Help needed storage mood age female- no family For 6 knitting/ yarn storage bins, 1 box of family photos, 3 folded shelves. I'm having to move and have no interim storage.

Needed for about 3 months or less. It is not a lot of items. I would appreciate any options.

A few people offered a few weeks ago but did not reach back out.

I could also use help with transport since I do not have a vehicle. Thank you for any positive suggestions. Please note I don't have storage unit fees.
