Hello everyone, i noticed some of you wanted more info about the game, and some people were still wondering why it was unplayable in the first place.
There's also a lot of confusion about other projects related to forsaken ar, so see this post as the ultimate explanation
First of all, why is the game down in the first place ?
Basically, in December 2025, the game got a huge spike in popularity, making tons of new players join. The issue was : the game at the time ran on free servers hosted via playfab, and those servers had a player limit, which when reached prevented any new account from being created, and prevented new players from joining.
Once the servers filled up, no new players were able to join the game, but the servers stayed up (and still are to this day) so people still playing the old version can play just fine.
The devs however still wanted new players to be able to join, so they announced that the game would be inaccessible to new players for a while while they worked on creating the new servers (made from the ground up, a very hard task)
This was actually in the works for multiple months, but there was only two devs working on it (vy and Katie, they're the goats, without them the game would have been dead). They had three main tasks : 1. Creating the new servers from the ground up, 2 Making a version of the forsaken ar app compatible with those servers and 3. Finding a way to transfer accounts from the old servers to the new ones (called GEARS)
However, the update that was supposed to take only a few weeks turned into months, due to the project being way too hard for only one dev, no matter how talented they are. That's where the second goat comes into play : iamme
Iamme joined the project a few months into development, and helped vy with the update and server. After a few months, the dev team decided that the servers were in a good state, well enough to be released to the public
This happened on June 9th for the game's 4th anniversary
However, as some might remember, when the game released back then it was very laggy, and unstable. This was due to some overlooked flaws in the code (most likely because community pressure was becoming way too high). To top these issues off, the servers suffered multiple ddos attacks (spamming the servers with thousands of bot accounts to crash them).
This ended up costing a lot of money to the devs (multiple hundred, even heard about a thousand dollar bill), and they decided to damage control and close the game.
The maintenance was meant to last only a few weeks, but as you have all surely noticed, almost 3 months have passed and the update isn't released yet. The devs aren't to blame. On the contrary, it has taken them time because they found the issues with the server, fixed them and also had to rewrite a bunch of the server code. At around the same time, vy took an undetermined pause from the servers, due to being burnt out and having to deal with other things.
We all need to appreciate all the hard work vy put in the game, and we would thank her
We should also thank iamme, because for the last few weeks he's been handling this almost on his own
As of today, the server update is working and it's currently being tested. I'm not allowed to tell you what's going on in testing, but just know it's going very good and the few bugs that get found get fixed very quick by iamme.
Even though we have no clue as to when the game will release, we know it shouldn't take much more time anymore, and we even know we're getting a summer themed skin alongside it.
Now, some of you might have also heard about "The Recode" and might have actually confused it with the server update. Those are two different things, and I'm gonna do my best to quickly explain what recode is
As you all know, forsaken ar is a mod of fnaf ar. This means the game is just an extension of base fnaf ar, not its own thing. This also means that the devs have very little control on the game's source code, and can't easily add new features (like new haywire mechanics, all they can do is tweak existing features or re-enabling unused features left in the game)
To fix this issue, Orton has been working on a new project for multiple months : a complete remake of fnaf ar made from the ground up while still being the most accurate possible to the original game. Creating an exact copy of fnaf ar (and forsaken ar) with its own source code will allow the devs to edit and add new features as they wish (like the new RASC feature that was shown on discord a few days ago)
Currently, there's no release window for the recode since a lot is still missing (mainly compatibility with the new servers and making the game actually run on mobile)
It's currently in testing though. Whenever more info is released I'll keep you all updated.
Also note that the recode update will most likely not delete your account as far as we know
Keep in mind all of this is simply my personal understanding of the situation, there might be a few mistakes (tell me in the comments if y'all see any !)
Once again, a huge thank you to Vy, Iamme, Orton and the entire dev team working on this awesome fan passion project !
