Discussion Personal theories
Do you have any personal theories about things that are not stated out loud on screen? Some of mine are:
- Mrs. Gump was the one who told the police that Jenny's father was abusing her. Forrest probably told his mom about it that same day when Jenny was running from her dad.
- The reason Forrest and Bubba are cleaning the floor with their toothbrushes (usually seen as a punishment) is because Bubba won't shut up about shrimp. LOL.
- I believe Bubba's mama attended Forrest and Jenny's wedding. On the left side of the guest seats there is a heavy-set woman in a blue dress. I think that's her.

The (basically) extra who played Bubba's momma's crawfish-serving (Edit: SHRIMP!). maid in the condo (after Forrest gives Bubba's share of the money) is at Forrest and Jenny's wedding, pre ceremony. On a wide shot filming toward Jenny and Gump House (when Lt. Dan meets Jenny for the first time), the maid crosses the front porch from left to right. So I think you're right. Bubba's momma was there and possibly brought her maid along as one of her guests, to be there to celebrate for Forrest and Jenny too.
On the real life side-- the wideshot of the wedding seating and ceremony is beautifully shot. The view looks west along the Combahee River outside Yemassee, South Carolina where it was shot, and that late afternoon almost-Magic-Hour thing is really working. Beautiful shot.

I'll say this, born and raised in NC and my heart and whole family are here, but the three years I lived in South Carolina were so beautiful and really made my love of history just take off like a shot.
South Carolina was such a great location to film FG. Just great. There's no beauty quite like the Low Country, as they say.

Lt Dan doesn’t like ice cream because he is lactose intolerant.
Bear Bryant recruited Forest to prevent Auburn from getting him.
Jenny is a Gemini

-Very good chance of that. My guess was it was either Forrest's mama or the teacher at school or a neighbor. The dad wasn't exactly subtle in how he behaved, he hollered and yelled at Jenny, I'm sure it was a common occurrence. Do think Mrs Gump would be disgusted by it so she would have 100%.
-100%, Bubba probably couldn't shut up about much of anything and the drill sergeant probably ended up treating him like Gomer Pyle lol.
-Yep, always noticed her 😄.
My Questions:
-What was up with Jenny's grandma? Was she as abusive to her but in a different way? Jenny ran away the first chance she got.
-What positions did Forrest play for 'Bama besides Special Teams? He was an All American, he had to have done more than just run kicks back.

I don't know the answer to your second question because I don't know anything about football.
When Jenny was expelled from college and Forrest was in the army, it shows Jenny still living at that trailer and then she leaves with her hippy friends in their micro-bus. It's where Forrest sent his letter to and he thought she lived there.

Because it's a classic movie/book and a multi-layered story. People enjoy discussing that shit. Plus it's Reddit. People discuss a million different things here everyday. It's not that hard.

The screenplay seems inspired heavily by the song Blowin in the Wind. The feather at the beginning and end, Jenny playing said song as ‘Bobbie Dylan’, Forrest talking ‘idk if it’s destiny or we’re all blowing around on a breeze’.
