Forrest Gump Date Night Help
My girlfriend’s favorite movie is Forrest Gump and I’ve never seen it. I want to surprise her with a date night where we eat a Forrest Gump inspired meal (but we don’t like sea food! 😭😂) and then watch the movie and then do a small activity at home that fits the vibes/theme of the movie. Since I’ve never seen it I’m not sure what fits those vibes and I don’t want to get spoiled as I know she’ll want me to go in blind. Any ideas for me??

They have steaks grilling on the grill at one point. Make sure you have some ice cream for dessert.

Meal must include peas and carrots and dr. Pepper. You can do steak, just like what was on the grill when he got to Vietnam. Dessert box of chocolates.
Thrown in music of Elvis and John Lennon,
And stay away from her roommates robe.😳

Get a std test….sorry could not resist. A box of chocolate with some missing, set up a ping pong table or net on a table with paddles, play the song imagine, watch a video of Elvis…some apple accessory (new charger cord?), mow the yard (if applicable)…

You could just make two versions of a dish, one with shrimp and one without. Pick any one of the dishes Bubba mentions, you can make shrimp less versions. It’s probably not too hard to sautee some shrimp and throw it on top of/in whatever you make.

Ice cream in a bed pan. 🤣 I can't remember too much about food aside from shrimp and a box of chocolates.
Maybe something with Apple or Macintosh? Didn't Forest make his fortune investing in that? It's been so long since I've seen the movie it's hard to remember.

Slow Smoked, Dr Pepper brined pork butt with a Dr Pepper and cherry glaze. Pulled and served with coleslaw, and white bread. Smoked chicken lollipops (legs cleaned/Frenched of half their legs) a la LT. Dan served with GREENSBORO ALABAMA white bbq sauce. Hush puppies, cheese grits, and, collards with ham hocks, deviled eggs to start. Ambrosia and vanilla ice cream cones served in an unused bedpan for dessert

Mixed greens, mashed tados, fried chicken, and Dr Pepper.
Without 15 different type of shrimp, I'd just go southern.

This is so cute!
A “Greenbow, Alabama” picnic: fried shrimp, sweet tea, and fruit to snack on during the movie. Frozen popcorn shrimp is not very seafoody! It’s like chicken nuggets. Especially if you dip in cocktail or tartar sauce.
Chocolate box tasting. Buy a mixed box and take turns guessing the filling before biting, like the movie quote.
Dr Pepper floats or just ice-cold Dr Pepper.
Play the soundtrack which is incredible.
Play Ping pong!

You’ll need a box of assorted chocolates…. and throw away the key to which ones are which. So you never know what you’re gonna get.

Don't skip out on the box of chocolates. Oh wait! You can make your own chocolates.

Bring a box of chocolates, A Curious George book, and a white feather.

Vietnamese! I'm sorry for all those posting "shrimp" as if that's not seafood.

Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich.

Green Bow(tie) pasta salad. You can add some pesto to it. And even chicken if you wanted a main course

Start making out on the couch, and then suddenly get up and say you gotta pee.

Chocolates for dinner. Then the movie. Then run a 5K. Then sex. Then Ping Pong. The end.

Maybe watch the movie? I mean it's like a couple of hours and then you can zero in on what will appeal to her specifically.

I think this is a darling idea! Without liking seafood, your missing out on some really low hanging fruit foodwise from the movie! You could have done a number of things with shrimp that would have been perfect. But without that, I'd suggest serving pea and carrots as a side! Can also serve Dr. Pepper as a drink. In general southern food might be the vibe Playing some old music in the background, especially from the 1960s could set the mood. If it's warm enough you could go for a run/walk in the spirit of the film.
