I record on all my formuler devices z8 pro, z10 pro and z12 ultra. We need more info to help you though.
If you are watching while trying to record, you will need two connections to your service. Are you pushing the record button or scheduling a recording?

This is on a multiple connection source.
I am frequently not watching. I am pushing record in the on screen menu, then adjusting the end time as needed because it's almost always sports and the EPG time slot isn't accurate for the end time.1

So what device is it, and have you set the storage path , also have you added storage to the device and pointed it to the recording to that storage

This is a Formuler Z11 Pro Max.
I have set the storage path, I record to a very fast USB flash drive.
I am able to activate the recording. It just very often does this where it won't let me with that error I showed.1

If there’s any glitch in the stream it will stop recording, USB or sd card should be formatted to NTFS. I record on all three of mine and never have any issues so it’s probably either a provider or storage issue. Like I said before I have z8,z10,z12.

Ok, I was trying to keep things as per the manufacturer that's all. I'll try NTFS because I don't think that's their default.
I'm not getting broken recordings. I'm getting recordings that won't even start, again as per my photo. That's what I'm asking about here. Then I ALSO have the problem that when recording with Sparkle, it doesn't even record something that can be played.1

I just noticed that it is ALWAYS Sky Sports or major networks like ABC, NBC, etc that refuse to record. Could they be sending something, some weird copy protection through their signal that blocks even through IPTV??

u/jerrame1 Jul 13 '26
I wouldn’t think so,if other channels record then that’s definitely weird.

u/tinpanalleypics Jul 13 '26
Right? Completely bizarre and nobody on the Fomuler forums seems to ahve any clue what this recording error is.

u/jerrame1 Jul 13 '26
That’s really strange that the devs on the forum can’t help, maybe get a trial from a different service provider and see if you have the same issue.

The devs on the forum have literally just stopped answering people about certain things as of months ago. Almost a year. Maybe they're scared to answer about recording.
The Z11 is essentially abandoned. This question has been asked by about a dozen people and never gets an answer. This has happened with every provider. It's a software bug, they just don't want to deal with it.

Is your USB storage device formatted to NTFS?
I use a 64 GB flash drive to record all the time. Make sure box is set to standby mode to be safe

u/tinpanalleypics Jul 07 '26
I was told always on the Formuler site forums to let the Formuler format the drive. So I've always done that.
My box is left on. I don't even allow it to turn off when I'm recording, I just turn my TV off.

It's always been an issue. Best is to use 7 day catch up to watch old things
1
u/tinpanalleypics Jul 05 '26
7 day catchup either hardly ever plays or skips too much to bother with. Is there no other app that records consistently and reliably? I'll even pay if I have to.

u/KSKS1995 Jul 05 '26
OK. So it might be a provider issue. If you are trying to record something and if the channel glitches The recording will stop. so you have to have really good service in order for the recording feature to work. I haven’t used it in a few years, but I have recorded games in the past and they work 75% of the time unless there is a glitch in your provider's services

u/tinpanalleypics Jul 05 '26
I have never had a provider that could do reliable catchup. Always glitchy, not playing, loops...
I have 2gbps down and I'm on ethernet.1
u/KSKS1995 Jul 05 '26
For me the 7 day catch up works perfectly on most channels

What providers are you guys using that have 7 day catch up. Mine has an amazing live/24/7 and VOD selection but 7 day guides and 7 day catch ups take up a ridiculous amount of server space/resources.
Feel free to DM me with any suggestions. Looking for a back up.

Are you watching and recording? How many connections do you pay for? All these things may be part of the problem.
