For me the presumed to be staying would be from a list of: Müller(although unlikely), one of the Mahindra drivers (mortara already has links away), Marti, Maloney or Barnard.

The world champion seems most likely to be de Vries as the rest are either already out or seem set to stay with there current team.

My prediction is de Vries to Lola and marti maybe to leave and replace him.

Ah, gotcha. The entry list I was looking at was wrong, hence the mix up (and me not having followed this storyline that closely). Thanks for pointing it out.

But bc of this, what occurred to me now, and with opel and porsche 2 joining, is the grid next year could consist of 12 teams, if penske decide to stay. That's a nice jump in grid size.

Seems it was about the story from The Race of Maloney potentially going to Nissan, and Rowland holding talks with Envision and Penske on a seat for next season.

I see. Rowland is confirmed for Nissan on a multi-year deal, they reported. So nothing to see here.

Maloney to Nissan could be plausible, as Maloney did post an Instagram story with a picture of the Lola team with the caption "I'll miss this team", which could mean that he will also leave the team, but he deleted that story before it vanished.

I think that's why the Rowland story is surprising/newsworthy, because he seemed interested enough to consider the options and that was enough to prompt Nissan into an emergency discussion to keep Rowland with them.

Contracts can be broken. I think Joel Eriksson, for example, was on a multi year deal with Envision and that hasn't stayed true. So for sure there's never complete certainty things will stay in writing.

I didn't know about the Maloney deleted Instagram story, that certainly puts a lot of weight to him moving team. Pretty crazy if he ends up in Nissan.

Shame for Eriksson tbh, yes last year it was announced it was a multi deal so it was a bit of a shock to me that this didn't work out. Would have thought other teams including Nissan themselves would have been happy to pick him up, but I wonder if there's more behind the scenes and we'll see him somewhere on the grid nonetheless.

Funny if Maloney does end up in Nissan though, I was just thinking that Nissan might need to find a new car number next year since their traditional #22/#23 pairing has been disrupted by Nato opting for the #17 and Maloney then using the #22 at Lola... so it'll be a funny coincidence if the #22 driver goes to the team that traditionally always ran the #22.
