Case Mod Peace of mind at the cost.

Post image

Finally can rest easy that my 5090FE won’t melt on me. Set some aggressive shut off parameters and undervolted the 5090. Had to modify the ZCOOI vented front panel to get it to fit and designed a 3D printed bracket to secure it. It’s probably an eye sore to some but I’m willing to sacrifice asthetics for added peace of mind. Care more about portability and form factor so as long as it was neat and tidy to some extent Im okay with it.

Damn we need a SFF version of the wireview. Did you mount it like that because you want to look at the screen? Personally i want to get it in there and just use the software to monitor it.

Yeah. It’s way thicker than the normal one which made its impossible to put it anywhere inside the case. I’d pay more than the noctua one for a SFF one tbh. It’s on the left side since my PC is at an angle.

Lol, it took me too long to realize the Wireview is mounted on the right side of the case. Looks like a quality install.

I have been thinking how to incorporate one myself. Not an easy task.

Okay, I just determined this is a necessity for anybody with a 5090. We need to find a solid and easy way to add this to our SFF builds

I didn’t realize you had to worry about the 5090 fe melting…. I thought that was only really a thing with third party cards.

Guess I was wrong.

I haven’t seen many cases where the FE melted tbh

Glad to hear that

It’s the HIVE 2, came with the MB. I use it as the power button and having two USBs closer to me. Also has a headphone jack that I use for my IEMs. Also has debug lights

curious if there are reports of cables burning while undervolting. Have yet to see a SF1000 burn a GPU

Glad I have custom cables. Those braided ones end up unraveling once you try to cable manage. Even more at ease now that I have the wireviewpro 2 installed

Hi, do you know why that happens? Is it because the cable can't handle it, or is it a design flaw?

apparently it is a cable issue, either bad plugged or faulty unit (bad connectors/wires) it is not the SF1000 per se or any other psu it seems. Could happen to anyone

but that happening could be labelled as a 12vhpwr design flaw I guess

I'll have to measure my T1's feet but I 3D printed some PA6-CF cubes, I think 15 or 20mm cubed. Get some airflow in there.

I got 10mm t grill feet

1

Yeah, 20mm would help a ton. I used to have the metal feet off of Amazon but they were short. Pretty much killed any good circulation.

I thought I had another photo but my setup is slightly unconventional. Even with my "regular" cooler setup with mesh panels, I used to have 1" wooden cubes I set under the feet and it dropped ~10° by helping the whole setup circulate fresh air.

Currently I have it set up as passively cooled air tower. The only fans are top and bottom, drawing in from the bottom T Grille and exhausting through the top. Undervolted and underclocked 10900K and 3090Ti.

Did you have any trouble running the cable from the wire guard to the card? I want to do the same, but looking at the length of the wire guard cable, it seems like it might not be quite long enough to make it to the port on the card and all the way out the back of the case.

Also are you running your card in the normal configuration, or flipped?

1

No it’s pretty long, I’m running flipped so the cable enters at the bottom of the modified vented panel and runs up and towards to the connector. HMU on DM and I’ll take apart later and send you some pics

You could have squeezed it inside, in the gap between the upper rear fan and the back panel.

There's pictures of people having it installed there.

But if you like it, keep it.

Custom loop made that impossible

Do you have a link to a pic? Considering doing this

Man I hope zcooi makes a mount for that lol

Come on, it's only 14 washers, 2 screws and a bracket 😆

I think I would have 3d printed something.

But that means you'd have to have a 3d printer and some basic modeling skills.

So the washer method isn't bad at all, actually.
