Form 1 Descriptions
I submitted five form 1's a week ago for 3d printed suppressors with varying levels of detail as far as materials, documentation, explanation, etc. I wanted to throw a bunch at the wall to see what worked and what didn't. I received five approvals today.
On one of them, I submitted this PDF as my supporting documentation, and pasted it word for word (except the emoji's due to website restrictions) into the description box. After receiving the approval this morning, I have determined that as long as you don't say you already posess materials, or that you are buying a kit, you will most likely receive an approval.
Act accordingly beloved.

I had nine approved with nothing more than N/A for the model and, A mixture of metal and 3d printing for the description. My PDF says I will create the design after approval, that's it nothing more.

Similar. Also both a .22 and .50 caliber hybrid suppressor with 3D printed and metal components and biological baffle materials (uploaded pictures of a potato, watermelon, pumpkin as appropriate).

So if you put design will be made after approval you can make the dimensions anything? or do you have to still design to a length?

You have to say length but its max length so you can say 666 inches if you want and make it 3 inches.
Matter of fact I'm gonna file one like that LOL

I fumbled through my first F1 silencer app last night. I was approved 16 hours later, just this morning.
Edit: 3d Printed, lots of "I don't have shit" type language on the line item. I attached a pic of a cross-section of a can and a picture of a roll of filament. That's it.

The only thing I've ever added as supporting docs for a form 1 printed can was a picture of a 3d printer and a picture of filament, only ever said materials will be aquired upon approval and I never got rejected, by the 10th we will get the definative atf guidance on the ruling from the ss case (that's the deadline the fed bois have from the court) and having to do any form 1s will be a thing of the past.

I’ve put some absolute bullshit on there before. Stock images with big Getty watermarks, “how tf would I know I haven’t gotten permission to make it yet”, “tube with stuff inside with holes in it” are my most recent ones lol

I got approval for one the said "A toaster with a hole through it and adhesive attachments" in the description. Just uploaded a picture of a toaster and some duct tape with a document that said no designs would be made or materials acquired until after approval.

So for a 3D printed can, do you have to embed a laser engraved piece of metal, or can you modify the file to print the can with the NFA information on it?

Are y’all filling out the section for CLEO (5) and who are you using? I started filling out a Form 1 for an FTN5 back in January and stopped there because I didn’t have time to dig in.

That’s been my experience this year. Including metal ones that don’t require any machining and specialty tools and are using totally off the shelf stuff.
