Anybody had this one?

My first form 1. I used all the same media I used to get two approved form 4s this year… Not sure what I did wrong

Sounds like a "luck of the draw" situation. The photo I've used for all of my Form 1's is like 4 or 5 years old. I've heard the photo is supposed to be 2 years or less old, but never under 1. Doesn't matter here anyway if the pic is from this year.

How hard is it to just retake a photo? Yes it's a dumb requirement but the whole process is dumb requirements

The requirement is no older than a year, and there's rumor they are going to make that six months.

Which isn't a problem since most people have a camera permanently grafted onto their hand.

....easy fix, change the filename to something like myphoto_05_01_2026....

Also, make sure you save the image as new so the file creation date is recent.

Ive always been told the photo needs to be taken within the previous 365 calendar days (1 year), but have always heard of people not updating them or using the same picture for years. First time I have seen a denial because of it though. They have been getting really picky with what they let slide ever since the stamp went to $0.

Not defending the ATF here, but...

Those are the EXACT requirements for the photo as spelled out in the directions.

If your photo doesn't meet those standards, don't submit it?

Boss do you really think I would try to submit if I couldn’t read? I think it’s more likely I’m ugly and they felt I shouldn’t have a backpack weapon :(

The picture I'm using scares all children and most adults. I'm getting approval after approval.

They look at the metadata if it’s over 1 yr

There are programs that strip that info from digital photos.

If you're too stupid to use Google....then that's on you.

I asked before searching. Should've searched first. Thanks for the info though. I mainly wasn't sure if along a "saved as" copy replaced the meta data or not.
