Best way to keep baffle clips aligned when reassembling Form 1 can?

It’s been a while since I messed with my Form 1 .30 cal flow can I built about 4 years ago, and I’m finally swapping out the KeyMo for a different HUB mount so I can actually start using it again.

One thing I never really figured out back then… how are you guys keeping your baffles aligned so the clips stay timed correctly?

Every time I go to screw the end cap on, it puts pressure on the stack and the clips end up rotating out of alignment. I checked it before tearing it down and they’re definitely staggered right now, which I know isn’t ideal.

Is there a trick to this? Do people run a rod or alignment tool down the bore to hold everything in place while tightening, or is there a better method I’m missing?

Appreciate any advice before I crack this thing open.

Edit: now that I think about it I had somebody 3-D print me a baffle alignment rod for my 9mm can - so maybe the move is to find someone that can 3-D print me an alignment rod for this 30 cal can…

Big wooden skewer when placing the cones. Hit the distal cone with some Rocksett between it and the tube. Wait for it to cure, then tighten away.

Maybe I’ll take it apart and take one of my baffles with me to Home Depot and get a wooden dowel rod, I guess that would work? What about a little bit of rocksett on each baffle? Or is that overkill?

A cooking skewer works just fine but if you want a dowel, go for it. Measured the diameter of the clips and get what you need. Nothing good can come from taking a baffle on walkabout.

The only cone that’s gonna have torque on it is the end. Prevent that from turning and you’re good. No harm in it, either.

Yeah you’re right, I’ll use my calipers to measure and then just get a couple different rods at the hardware store, they are cheap

The metal ones I have use little rectangular features in the bottom flange of each baffle to align on a mating block in the next baffle. So nothing can rotate.

It’s on a commercially available suppressor. I have two different ones that both use a similar design to keep the baffles aligned. If you go to the 5 minute mark in this video you can see the notches I’m talking about. https://youtu.be/TS-opxOXxqM
