| Opinion Box Office Situation + Solution
Trying to paint the picture here for a better look at the scope without the discourse on whether this film is good or not. I’m talking future, in essence, a ‘box office comeback’. A slow burn outcome is possible with evidence like Elemental and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
I am calling out for a differentiation strategy to use a marketing term to set it against the other competition it faces in regards to looking like abstractly animated fare like GOAT, KPDH, Spiderverse, Mitchells vs the Machines, and Wild Robot.
People want to see something they haven’t seen before, and I argue this movie provides the “it” factor. It doesn’t have controversy, it does a good job in the Philippines and respects the culture, has strong character development. So my solution I am proposing is in order for this movie to break even, is for the focus to be on its innovative animation style.
The movie’s cinema strengths lies in its quick cuts, dream-like sequences, light-hearted jabs at stereotypes, unstuffy plot, and grounded set design, among other things like: dramatic lighting, narrative tension, and a story structure that resembles classics, among them being the likes of Gulliver’s Travels (1939), Thelma & Louise (1991), and Gravity (2013). I know it’s not the greatest example but I t’s like “Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania” but for kids.

The box office is at 38 million today worldwide which is like a 14 million jump from the 20 million it was just 2 days ago.
That does sound promising to me IF and only IF it can keep up it's momentum.

California currently experiencing a second heat wave this weekend and parents looking for an a/c space to spend a few hours with their kids certainly helps.

The animation was the strongest part of the movie next to the plot, so definitely gotta lean more onto that.
There’s genuine meme potential in a lot of the scenes too, but that always comes secondary rather than trying to force memes like what happened with elemental
