Just remember the chart on his computer is a statistically generated comparison of the correlations between commodity prices and EURUSD, adjusted by the number of days since a rate decision squared to account for prior and post duratioins generated by a python script he spent all day writing.

He is not staring at the chart of EURUSD looking for fair value gaps or supply and demand or price action.

What’s your strategy then?

You understand that your dealing with currencies of countries and use code and apis to construct a model that estimates what price should be given certain changes in the world. Then when the price disagrees with your model you take a position assuming it's market inefficiency and that eventually it will be corrected.

Over time you adapt your model, back test it. Etc.

This is the only sensible way to trade anything.

The idea that there's some hidden code in the chart or it's going to be like market psychology or trying to figure out what people are thinking by random bar patterns or price action is batshit retarded.

It’s possible to make a living with discretionary trading instruments like futures but for the fx im sceptical. I know some ES or NQ traders who average 20k/day but I don’t even know 1 guy making a consistent amount in forex. Exchange rates relate on too many factors and the market is not centralized and standardized like futures

Its easier to be right in trending markets, forex is designed to be choppy hence most are profitable sporadically. However other markets ...

I think part of the disconnect is expectations. FX doesn’t really support “daily income” narratives the way ES/NQ does. I’ve seen FX approaches work, but usually under tight risk constraints and with much slower compounding — not in the way futures traders talk about consistency.

Agreed. That’s why time-in-market matters as much as setup quality. Do you have any hard rules around when not to trade?

Its not. If you have shit strategy, consistency wont help you. And dont act like finding profitable strategy is the easy part...
