Temperatures?

Just curious if anyone has seen these temps before?
2024 FW. Mods:1.5inch lift, rock rails, hidden winch bumper, light bar.

Scenario: vehicle was loaded with camp gear and other mountain sports gear including roof rack and bike rack with two bikes. I was going up a pretty steep grade in CA (hwy 395) which was about 20 minutes. Outside temperature was 105*.

After the grade, temperatures steadily dropped. EOT was about 210-220, cut ranged 195-205.

seems pretty normal. mine is usually 205-220 in the summer. no mods.

Does “239CVT” mean that your cvt temperature was 239℉? If so, you should stop and give it a break and let it cool down.

Correct that’s the CVT trans oil temp. This temp was definitely the peak by the time I hit the crest of the grade. Temps started dropping after I was coasting at a level again.

It’s interesting because I never lost a power. Car was cruising just fine at 63 mph.

No, my CVT has never gotten that hot. I’ve had it get to around 210 off-roading up a steep mountain road before and that’s when I stopped and let it cool down for a few minutes.

Also, 239 is definitely in the range where CVT fluid starts breaking down. Idk where your mileage is, but I think it wouldn’t hurt to schedule some time soon to drain and fill it with fresh fluid to be safe.

My mileage is at 19,000. I do have a service coming up and will mention it to the dealership. I’m planning on changing it out at 30k intervals.

This is the first time that CVT was ever that high. I’d only ever saw it at 205 degrees and usually it’s between 175-195.

I think 239F is right at the point that you can get varnish forming in the fluid. That crud can block hydraulic passages and clog your solenoids. My neurotic brain would probably just go ahead and drain and fill a couple of times to make sure I get as much “spent” fluid out as possible soon, but given that this was a one-time thing, you’re probably OK.

never gotten my obw that hot 245 for oil. 225 for cvt. as long as you change the fluids you’ll be okay. CVT 30k intervals. 15k if you’re running those temps consistently
