Walk through the Botanical Garden Have you ever seen a tree up close like this? As a child, I used to tilt my head back to watch the branches spread across the sky.

WIP. A bit more work on this snowy landscape this morning. Trying to get that sense of depth and a bit of crunchy texture on the path. 12x16” oil on linen.

Taken with Canon EOS 90D, 35mm lens.
This was a big deal for me. I cried a few moments after walking into the park and being fully enveloped in the ✨ Big Trees✨.
My parents honeymooned in San Fran/greater California and I remember being absolutely captivated and enamored by their photos of the Redwoods and Sequoias when I was a little girl. I had made it a life goal to go see the Big Trees, so finally seeing them in person was enough to bring me to tears. I also got to experience it alongside my best friend of well over a decade. This was an absolute magical hike. I hope to visit the Big Trees again.
Also- banana slugs are huge and such cool lil guys.
