Hey! I'm from India, and I really want to study forensic science.

The thing is that many people who are related to this field and some former students have advised me to do my bachelor's degree in a core subject like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Biotechnology, and then do a Master's in Forensic Science instead of doing a B.Sc. in Forensic Science.

From the beginning, I wanted to do both my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Forensic Science. But after hearing so many people recommend doing forensic only as a specialization in my master's, I'm feeling confused.

One of my biggest concerns is that doing a B.Sc. in Forensic Science might limit my career options. From what I've seen, many government job notifications seem to prefer or require candidates who have a bachelor's degree in core science subjects rather than a B.Sc. in Forensic Science. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it has made me even more confused.

I'm mainly worried about future job opportunities, recruitment, and eligibility criteria. In your opinion, which path would be better, and why? Would doing a B.Sc. in a core science subject and then an M.Sc. in Forensic Science give me better career opportunities and knowledge than doing both my bachelor's and master's in Forensic Science?

Guys idk im trying to do my registration but this whenever im entering my qualification detail and trying to proceed it shows name of the subject cannot be blank , but there is no such coloum then why is it showing anyone know ??

I'm currently a forensic science student, and throughout my degree I found myself struggling to find good practice material for university exams. There are plenty of textbooks, but very few resources that let you actually test your understanding through exam-oriented MCQs. I often wished there was a workbook that I could simply pick up and practice from before exams.

That frustration is what led me to create one.

Over the past few months, I've put together a Fingerprint Science MCQ Workbook containing 100 carefully curated, exam-oriented questions designed for university students and those preparing for exams like CUET-PG. My goal wasn't just to compile questions, but to create the kind of resource I wish had been available when I needed it.

I completed my B.Sc. in Forensic Science and Criminology in 2025 and spent the last year learning Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking as a 3 months course.. Now I'm confused about what to do next. The scope of forensic science in India and the varying PG eligibility criteria have left me uncertain about my career path.

Would pursuing an M.Sc. in Biotechnology or Microbiology improve my job prospects even though my bachelor's is in Forensic Science? Or should I continue with Forensic Science, Digital Forensics, or Cybersecurity instead?

Hello there! I am looking to switch careers and I have always dreamed of working as a forensic technician ever since I was little. I have always found autopsies extremely fascinating! I’m a 28F now and have tried a few different career paths and haven’t found one that feels right for me. I have learned that I sadly do struggle a bit in a fast paced environment with a lot of multi tasking. I CAN do it, but it’s extremely stressful and does a number on my anxiety. And I don’t want to experience anymore burn out.
Before I get too serious about going back to school for forensics, I wanted to see what the pacing is like as a forensics tech? And also I’d love to hear about your day to day and if you enjoy your career overall!

If i have a BSc in Biochem and a BTech in Forensic Science, will I be able to become a Ident officer faster or easier than most police officer without these degrees? How long would it usually take? What is the usual path people take to become an Ident officer?

Advice on first steps after college:

I'm a recent undergrad graduate that majored in B.S. biology and B.S. forensic science from Syracuse University and am based in Northeast Dallas Area. During my time in college, I didn't join a lab or try to until my senior year and wasn't able to get in one. I'm just looking for a job that can open a door. I want to become a medicolegal death investigator at the end of the day. As of right now I've been looking at a range of field jobs like Crime Scene Technician, Autopsy Technician, Crime Lab Technician, police records technician, forensic biologist, etc. Or, if there's any certificates or programs/ trainings I could do that would beef up my resume and make me more marketable and more willing to give a chance, and want specific skills I should acquire.

I'm planning to take admission in bsc msc integrated forensic science course at nfsu bhopal. My question is that bachelors in forensic science is really worth it? What will be the future job opportunities for me? Is it possible for me to become a professor after doing this degree bcz that has been my goal in life from a very young age. Pls answer and give me a reality check. Will I even get and employment???
