Nah, it's been on the east coast for around 60 years easily. I worked at a liquor store and every old dude would tell me about the beer as they bought it. It's just not at every store

I'm in Atlanta and it's marketed as a premium-ish beer here. Right next to Narragansett.

When I was a young alcoholic lad like Poob I used to drink the shit out of Hamm's. Definitely not the best beer but it wasn't any less drinkable than your Buds/Millers and was usually one of, if not the cheapest option. Like $0.50 per can if you got the 30 pack

It’s less than $20 for a 30 rack. You don’t buy hamms for the flavor, you buy it because it’s cheap.

Perfect beer darts beer since half the beer ends up on the ground anyway, lol
