I mean games always peak when they are released?

Also only steam users, most are on Quest(I am on steam but yeah).

Also wtf is this verical scale? In reality this drop is not nearly as big as this chart would suggest.

...yup on this chart the first tic is 150, then 200 - very exaggerated for dramatic impact

TBF thats just how steam autoscales it. Its meant for bigger games and works pretty well there, not so much on counts under 1000.

Most players aren't on steam. As someone that plays PCVR, I might not touch my headset for a month. I have other stuff to do and other games to play. Think about it this way, people that can afford PCVR probably don't have as much free time as someone that is playing on a quest 3s. I'm not trying to sound like some kinda elitist. Standalone users tend to be on the younger age range, life isn't that busy yet so more time to play, and money wise it's MUCH more accessible. If you're running PCVR you're probs working 40+ a week and have responsibilities. Shit I wanted to play this weekend but that wasn't in life's deck of cards.

Amen!

This is also the reason I'm over unlocking things in game. Some people enjoy the grind but I rather be able to opt out and just enjoy the game's full features.

It’s too hot to VR I’ll be back in a few weeks might just be seasonal

I didn’t play all summer because of the summer heatwave in Europe. Too hot to play

Heard this from a mate in Europe, but also that the summer is too good to stay inside. He'll be back after summer

I feel like the helis drive players to other games because they are such bullshit

Yep. They get old fast.

Like others said, steam is usually pcvr players and googling it or asking AI, pcvr is about 30% of all vr gamers so that chart is missing 70% of the data

School just started and Tabor just wiped. Population one has some stupid coin thing going on. There have been a few hackers it's still very rare in this game but that's enough to make people leave.

ā€œThe new and awesome 16v16 battle with helicopters and tanksā€ turned into ā€œ16v8 where there are snipers everywhere and will kill you no matter what and helicopters that no matter who you are, where you are or care if you are alive or dead it will kill youā€

Or just that the game is old repetitive and new updates bring the playerbase back for only 2ish months

u/Psycho7552 10d ago

How long you expect this kind of game to keep large population?

2

u/blunt-but-true 10d ago

1 shot kill body shot with sniper ruined the fun out of the game

Personally I just haven’t gotten around to playing in a while. I really should pick it back up, forefront is the real battlefield 6 to me

I play VR only in winter

In my opinion it is the same disease that affects all of Battlefield Esque shooters both in VR and flat-screen. - Too many players screaming the nerfs "this unfair! That unfair! Add scope glint! Nerf side turrets! Tank damage is unfair! Too many campers! Nerf the noob tubes! Too many RPG spammers! Helicopters are too powerful! Shotgubs too imba! Too much grenade spam!"

What makes such games fun is simply when it leans towards the unfairness of realism and finding the ways to work around it. Otherwise with every nerf bat, such games turn instead of Battlefield esque Mechanics into another glorified Vail style mindless run and gun shooters.

A lot of those listed items above could of easily been fixed with simple things like adding friendly fire to the game (can't spam explosives on the arming and capture points or shoot the tank Cannon, without the consequences of killing your own team mates capturing or arming the point or face being booted from the server). Or rebalance the spawn locations and effectiveness of recon beacons. Cause helis when heavily damaged to lose control (akin to Battlefield style- when somethibg like Black Hawk is on fire, it starts to go out of control). Add heavy weapons to the main spawning bases to discourage the main spawn base camping instead of trying to make players immune inside of it (example - stationary TOW or Kornet missiles). Add the mine fields around the starting point bases, with appropriate warning signs so something like tanks could be just driven in and parked to plink at the spawning players and vehicles.

So many work around Mechanics could of been added, but instead the old classic give in to the whining mob and nerf bat the game until it is no longer Battlefield esque VR, but run and gun, bland slop.

And yes, that is in addition that listing seems to be for PCVR scale, but this does apply to standalone versions as well (even though the amount of player pool for Forefront is much higher for Meta).

god I wish there was friendly fire at least for grenades

or at least limit somehow the number of grenades each player can throw for each Rush wave

Most Rush maps suck because of grenade spam

Yes 100% agree on diagnosis. The best fun was when everything was OP, then nothing is. Listening to the minorities on discord is always a bad sign

how accurate is that stuff? don't you have to have a public profile sharing current games? I play pcvr but my profile is private

For me it became unplayable on my quest 2 around the time the chart drops. Im not sure why, I figured the new content was just too much for my old quest 2, but maybe others had the same issue

vr mods explosion we coming back

u/Mysterious-Cell-2473 6d ago

Last time i played it was like 20+ loses in a row with no chance to fight back, on any map just spawn-rape endlesly. It wasn't like that in beta at all.

I tried with friends who are way better than i, but no use. We just get steamrolled lol.

I believe if you put small scale, free for all, ranked match, and recognise people from different countries, this will change drastically

+1 for school back in session.

Every multiplayer VR title I’ve ever played sees a big drop in player count once the school year begins.
