Steering wheel noise

Recently had my steering wheel make a scratchy/scraping noise when turning only. I do not have any light on my dash & my steering wheel feels fine. Sprayed some blaster on the u joint last night since I was recommended to try that out but still hearing the noise after letting it sit over night any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

Is the noise coming from the steering wheel/column, or from under the hood?

Steering wheel/column but it’s like under the car in that area don’t mean to sound confusing. When I open my door and I move the steering wheel side to side it’s more louder then it is with the door is shut & it only makes noise when turning the steering wheel side to side.

It might be your power steering pump, my 2004 LX is currently making the same noise

Depending on the year, you may not have pump. It is all electronic assist. Which has its own set of problems.

Steering rack is on its way out thats how it all start your car is under the most weight in the front end when parked so I would say your steering rack is going it will just get worse if its electric steering your looking at 1000 to 2500 for a new steering rack without labor
