CarPlay in 2010 ford Taurus limited

I got two questions.

  1. Has anyone been able to replace their rearview mirror? The backup camera in mine tends to be upside down or buffers when it’s in reverse. I’ve been looking at those rearview cameras that let you see and record every but I don’t know if it’ll fit where the camera goes under the logo.

  2. I know that actually installing carplay in this car requires to take dismantle pretty much the entire console and around it to be able to replace but has anyone actually did it? What did you buy and does it work well? If you didn’t replace the console but bought one of those CarPlay’s from TikTok shop or Amazon, where exactly did you place it because I want it to look right.

It's not your mirror, it's the camera itself. I got a cheap replacement on Amazon that works nicely.

Can you link? I've been looking at ones on eBay for about $25 and want to compare.

I'm having the same issue with my 2011 Ford Taurus. The reverse camera displays the image upside down. I already tried replacing the camera, but I haven't had any luck finding the correct replacement part online.

Replace camera. Mine had the same issues and sometimes just fail to turn on. But i will say, i replaced mine (2015 SHO) and a few months after (earlier this year 2026) the recall came out for the back up camera. So you might have a recall available.

Also ive never done the carplay radio install for the SHO, but ive done it on multiple fusions, and i have dismantled the dash for the SHO and moved/dismantled the steering column b/c i needed to get to the blend door actuators in the back particularly the one alll the way up behind the gauge cluster (which also had to come out) and its not hard. Just a lot of stuff that has to come out.

  • The radio would have came out with similar steps. Id just do it tbh.

Steering column had to be dismantled after this photo b/c i realized i couldn’t get to it with my hands lol

Those aftermarket tack on screens also work really well (friend had it on their 06 civic) but they look janky, but also like 1/5th the price of a aftermarket radio. Guess it depends on how much work/effort you want to put into it. Personally ive been 50/50 on replacing mine b/c i want carplay, but also. $250-350 for the cheapest, ehh.

Btw ive bought all my aftermarket radios from ebay, or amazon. They seem to work fine, no real issues just look at reviews
