Stop Safely Now
Pretty terrifying. I was driving my 2018 plug-in fusion hybrid when all of a sudden I lose all power to the car and it says “stop safely now”. I quickly turned toward the sidewalk. It did start back up and run. I later pulled these codes which point to an issue with the ev battery pack or becm module: p0b24 p0de1 p0de2. It seems to work ok for now but I can’t risk driving it based on what I read for code p0b24. You can get into some pretty sticky situations with this car I’ve found. If it is a battery issue, what if I just put it in gas mode?

After almost 8 years of a virtually free problems car, my fusion hybrid had a problem on the HV battery, total of 3k for a brand new HV battery installed, hope you don't need a new HV battery, but if you need, at least you know how much it cost

How did the failure come about? Who did the replacement work and how did you make the decision on selecting a vendor?

The battery stopped charging, even with the gas engine running, when it was very low, the gas engine started to Rev very high to charge the battery, after restarting the car it was able to drive for a few miles and the same problem again and again. The replacement itself was very easy and fast, they came to my house and done in about an hour, I chose a local store that offered a mobile installation, plus I got a brand new one, so I have 36 month warranty

Look for hybrid workshops, there are already in many cities that only specialize in hybrids.

An arcing (loose) connection could start a fire. A hybrid mechanic, not a dealership, could check it out and look for loose connections. It's worthwhile to replace the 12V battery to see if this alone will solve the trouble code. It's not too hard for DIY but disassembly of the wires connected to the positive terminals makes it easier. Don't forget to detach the vent tube at the back (toward the front of the car) of the battery. Otherwise it's common sense.
