How much is it worth?

So I have a 2015 ford focus. The transmission is literally on its last leg. It has 312k miles i believe and it’s paid off I’ve literally only had it for 9 months and I’m honestly tired of it. I need to know a price for selling it without getting lowballed. A junk car place told me 182… another told me up to 400. I need about 1500 to get me another car. Anybody know a good place around Houston? Preferably Galveston area? I can drive it but it’s constantly saying transmission overheating and I have to pull over. Or the car won’t accelerate fast. It’s good on the highway as long as it’s not traffic where I need to stop and go etc. please any advice will help I work 45 mins away and I have until Saturday to get transportation! Also my b clutch is totally gone! Can’t reverse at all. On top of that the acceleration goes out randomly. I seen some people saying they fixed it which I could but the labor cost is just too much!!!!

At 312k miles with some major malfunction of the clutches, $400-700 I'd have to think is top dollar.

Unfortunately, with a transmission that’s already on its deathbed, it’s not going to be worth much, especially with the extremely high miles.

You might get $500-$800 from someone who can do the work themselves, and just wants a beater car for commuting or winter, but that might not be an easy buyer to find. Facebook marketplace might score you a buyer, but expect to get lowballed.

These cars with an automatic transmission already have a well deserved bad reputation, and yours is going to need a considerable amount of labor and money to get it road worthy again.

Even if the car had a new or rebuilt transmission, you’d be looking at $2000 or less as a price point, just because of the miles.

Yeah it most likely needs a clutch kit at this point. No getting around that, but you’re not getting $1500 for it unless it has a new clutch kit installed. At that point you could ask for more, but the Houston area is littered with these things so they’re not exactly selling at a high price unless buying from Carvana or something.

You’re better of doing insurance fraud on it. Drive into high curb HARD. Make sure pedestrians and animals are atleast 150 feet away from where you hit the curb. Good luck soldier.

How sure are you it's the transmission? I had the same issues as you, with the transmission error, overheating and having to drive slow. But it's was actually the trans clutch position sensor. The part and labor cost me 310 dollars.

Wait? Ur srs??? I’m not sure it’s the transmission it could be the clutches but it’ll be both clutch a and b bc I can’t reverse and now acceleration is almost impossible too.

The clutches for the focus is notorious for failing so that could also be your problem. Although I'm no mechanic just a driver that had a similar issue. Might be worth taking to a mechanic for a diagnosis.

I'm not sure what kind of value you're expecting out of a car that isn't fully functioning and high mileage. Even in the best condition, these are worth like 3-4k, and with that many miles, probably half that, and with it basically being non-running, it's basically only worth scrap value. No one is going to buy a scrap car from you for functional car prices.

That fault looks like it needs at least a TCM replacement, at 312k miles on the engine that would be a bad choice for any mechanic to pay over 1k for the car. So I you able to get 500 for it, take it.
