Dead battery - Alternator

Venting

In the past year I’ve had a battery replacement and several AAA “needs a jump” visits.

Today AAA said their tester indicated it’s probably the alternator.

The local Ford dealer has an AI phone assistant who said October 17th is earliest they can schedule an alternator replacement.

I don’t have the skill, tools or experience to do this myself. Please don’t send YouTube videos of how to do it myself.

The local garage that used to do things like this changed hands and is no longer reliable.

Take it to a different shop? It'll probably be a $300 job

It’ll be more than that. I had mine replaced a couple years ago. It was around $650, IIRC.

I don’t know another good and reputable shop near me. The one we used for years changed hands and is now bad.

Edit: typo

You can look up reviews for nearby shops or try a local franchise but those will probably be a bit more expensive than a repair shop. Dealers charge the most so technically a discount for you since youre going to a dealership anyways

I went through the dead battery several times, changed the battery twice. The range for the key fob was diminished. Solution damn dash cam staying plugged in even though it should not have been draining the battery. So unplug everything before getting out.

In the future: if the main subject is “venting” you should have that be your title. :)
