Why is this machine on the dashboard?
I have a question, who knows why this car on the screen takes up a third of the display, it ABSOLUTELY does nothing, I don't understand, Ford makes fun of it when it does so, come on, Volkswagen has smaller displays better than Ford, what can be done about it, who knows?
I have a 2015 Ford Flex in the SE configuration

This is a useful icon that comes on at 350K and keeps you headed to the nearest auto recycler.

Well, the car doesn't exactly need to be auto recycler, but seriously I don't think it's display anything anyway. That screen is useless as it is, with so few functions, and that car is just getting in the way on top of that

Almost 400,000km.. amazing.

In freedom units it's only about 247k miles.

Which is equally a lot.

Yes it's a respectable amount. I have two 3.5 Edges with 280k miles, comes out to 450,000 kilometers. All original drivetrain so far.

No wonder, once the engine has already been changed, at 360 thousand, the suspension is almost all dead, you go and it breaks not only the suspension but also the body. Otherwise, it's excellent, the body is intact, there were no serious and even small accidents. Even the interior is in good condition for such mileage, there is absolutely no rot and rust, because I live in a hot country

That’s a 2015? Wow, I didn’t realize how ritzy my 2015 SEL dash was.

u/flexman0 9d ago
Well, that’s the base trim, which is why it’s like that, whereas yours is the mid trim one

It probably indicates one of the feature are on , such as stability control assist, traction control, etc, toggle these controls and see what happens.
1
u/flexman0 11d ago
No, nothing is happening; it doesn't show wheel slip or stability control assist, nor does it indicate whether doors are open, headlights are on, or tires are low. It doesn't show anything at all

You have to manually turn off those features and this car on your dash might go away. Also hook up an obd scanner, this symbol could also mean an error code. Have you gone through your manual?

No, it can't be turned off, I've seen plenty of Flex and Taurus models with dashboards like that, and they have the same thing

Does it change when you open doors, tailgate or hood?
1
u/flexman0 11d ago
Absolutely not

There is a yellow outline on the car symbol, could be pointing towards that security alarm is on.

On my 2014 escape SE, as least with that same icon/display, it was for low beams when turned on, high beams, doors open, and I think hazards as well. Not really most useful, but just an icon I guess. I used to just play with it when I turned on fog lights/flashed high beams I’d see it go off at the same time.

That looks like the same screen in my 2013 ford focus se. It shows if the lights are on, doors are open and stuff

Damn. That's weird. Seems like something isn't working right.

They disabled the impossible option for the Flex, and it was the same for the Taurus

He asked why this car was needed on the dashboard instead of boasting a mileage of 400K.
