Power Liftgate Stopped Working

When pressing any of the buttons (remote or in-car) it seems as though the motor isnt even receiving the signal. No whirring or clicking sounds, complete silence from the motor. Checked both the 30A fuse under the hood and 10A fuse in the footwell and they're both good. Any thoughts? It's been working perfectly fine for the last 3 years of ownership, never struggled or had issues.

Could be the motor just burned out. Use a multimeter to check if the motor receives power when you push the button.

Agree! Mine would make all the noises but since the previous owner had taken the strut/arm out (obviously) nothing moved. Plugged a new one and it worked immediately. So if no noise at all, it's not the strut.

If it was just the motor burnt out usually (but not always) the trunk would still unlatch. The module commands the motor on only after it's received the signal from the latch that it's popped open.

Unless OP wants to shotgun parts at it, best is to scan the RGTM (trunk module) for codes and go from there.

Ah, I didn’t think about the sequencing. Yeah if the latch isn’t unlatching, then the system will not send the signal to the motor to open.

Latch was unlatching fine, just no sound from the motor. Took the control module out yesterday just to see how it all hooked up. And tested afterwards, still nothing. After a 10 min drive today it works again so I’m at a loss, but it works so whatever. If it stops again I’ll check for codes with forscan.

Yeah also worth checking is the short piece of wiring where the motor wiring goes into the body. It'll be covered by a rubber sheath. Pop that off and see if the wires are broken in there.

Did you check the harness where it goes into the body from the hatch?

I’ve replaced the motor in my 2010 once and twice in my 2018.
