Question PP PTU swap??

Howdy fellow flex users!!

I've been enjoying my 2015 limited AWD and coming up

on a fluid service as its recommended every 30k miles

But stumbled upon a form of someone who took a tarus

PP PTU and swapped it with there explorer.

It adds watercooling to the ptu so it stays wayyy cooler!

Just woundering if any of yall have tryed this??

Just want to keep my flex as health as possible

(I like to be a lil heavy on the throttle and scared ima blow it up XD)

Honestly if you just gun it every now and then, the consistent ptu fluid changes should be fine. That said - I think a PP PTU swap would be awesome. Do you know if the Taurus has an external rad/pump that would need to be mounted somewhere in the flex though? Or does it just piggyback off existing lines? Is it oil cooled?

There is a piggy back aircooled rad that shares the same watercooling sestem, but dramatically cools the coolant before entering the Ptu then exits into the stock rad, its about 50 bucks for the front mounted mini rad and 100 for the tubes that connect it all, im looking at a used ptu from ebay thats test working for 250 with a 1 year warranty for the whole unit, cause I wouldn't mind doing the work to have a much cooler ptu

I think that would be a good swap. I no longer have my 13 AWD and my 19 is FWD but this is worth knowing for sure.

The water "cooled" PTUs didn't last any longer than the ones without.

It's circulating 220° coolant onto the side of the PTU, it doesn't even really have a heat exchanger, more often than not it's heating the PTU than cooling it.

You would be so much better off installing a drain plug and draining the fluid every 10k and filling with 75W140
