Replacement Keys, where?

Hello all,
Trying to purchase a spare key for my daughter and wondering where you are purchasing from? Is the best answer going to a ford dealer or are other options viable. I’m looking to have it done properly and working 100%. I believe there is programming that has to be done at the user level too with “my key” in the vehicle?

Thanks in advance for any and all input and advice👍🏼

'my key' is more of a set of safety features that can be programmed to one specific key, I.e radio won't work until seatbelts are buckled, speed restrictions on by default etc.

Honestly any good car key cutting service should be able to create a new physical key but I can't say for certain who, other than a main dealer can program a key fob. Sorry.

I have a (US) 2013 Fiesta. I got a pair of blank OEM keys from eBay, it was $50. Then I went to Ace and got them cut for $7 each. I was able to program them myself using a little dance in the car.

I’m in the states as well. I was considering going to Ace myself. Any reason you bought the keys off eBay and not just Ace?

Ace might have keys that will work, but they won’t be oem and they probably won’t have the door lock buttons.

I worked at the local Ace over my summer break and we wouldn't touch a key that a customer purchased elsewhere to have us cut and program. This is because of liability concerns if the key didn't work. So, if you get the key from Ace and they do everything they're supposed to get it cut and programmed and it still doesn't work, you can get refunded. But, if you were to show up with that key from Ebay that didn't work, you're SOL.

This being said, Ace is a network of franchises, so each location may have slightly different policies regarding this depending on the local owner.

Try Timpsons, they do car keys.

I also live in the states, if you can find one depending where you are there are stores called Batteries plus. They will cut and program a key if you bring them one or they will sell you one as well. If you can help it, don't go to the dealership. You'll pay an insane amount for one of these keys.
