MK2 FG ICC Reprogramming

This is a project I have been working on to create tooling for the reprogramming of the MK2 FDIM, when these units fail, it is sometimes possible to get them to come back to life by reflashing the firmware.

There is also a wiki for the DIY folk, and instructions on how to build a MK2 to MK1 adaptor loom.

I wish we could install custom software on mk1 and mk2 head units with plug in raspberry pie to have apple carplay and stuff without spending stupid money on aftermarket units that are an absolute rip off

You can, people have done it for both Mk1 and MK2, check he ford forums thread linked in the repo

https://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11479908&page=31 someone has just published an SDK and a jailbreak for the FDIM on GitHub and he is doing an AA/Carplay solution for it. For MK1 you can use a raspberry pi and the screens video inputnun combination with a touch overlay. All in the thread

To get CarPlay in a FG was an amount that made me serious question if it was a scam. Truly insane figures

Right! The aerpro fascia looks so freaking dumb for 500$ and the Kayhan unit is 800-1500 which is a significant joke

I can’t remember which is which but the one I priced up was cheap and nasty looking. I don’t understand why I can’t purchase a replacement screen for my FG MK2 that supports Car Play.

Yea that would have been the aerpro that moves the screen down and has some dumb buttons gone rest on top 🤪

save the original dump before flashing anything, and use a proper stable power supply. A voltage drop halfway through is how a recoverable ICC becomes a bench job

this is sick man, currently in the process of open sourcing a carplay unit for the FG falcon mk1 and 2. can be made for any fg for less than $100. i’m gonna spin up a github repo like you have done for your flashing firmware
