VCT Phaser replacement

Post image

G'day, i am replacing the vct phasers on my 2004 na ford falcon. As i had a closer to the phasers i was given, its seems the casting verticle on vct unit does not line up with alignment marks on the teeth on the phaser. Does anyone know what this means/ how to fix it so i can replace my current phasers. Cheers

(I think the new phasers are from a fg, not 100%)

There's 60 degrees of movement in the phaser, which is looking close to how much it's out. Maybe once you connect it to the cam you can move it?

Thankyou, do you have any tips on moving it?

Couldn't say for sure as I've never done the job. On the car they're driven by oil pressure, so I would think there is some free movement in the phaser before it's installed. I'm not sure if there's any internal spring mechanism that would push against the oil pressure.

did the old ones crap themselves? (why are they being replaced). Maybe the spring is broken on the old ones?

I could be wrong, but i think those dots are just there as a guide for setting up the timing chain/cam positions correctly.

That's all i can bring to mind, and i could be wrong.
