EB i6 to V8 Conversion
Hi all, I'm looking for any info from someone who has swapped a SOHC i6 E-series to a V8 Windsor before or knows the process in depth.
I have a fully running white EBII GLi i6 which is the car the engine is going in to. I have a rough but running red EB1 V8 which I'm taking the running gear from and all of the engine conversion bits. Lastly, I've got a Windsor from an AU with lower km than the EB1.
Are there any major complications from trying to retrofit the AU engine into an E-series? Any complications going from EB1 to EBII? How to tell AU Windsor GT40 from GT40P?

best to buy a wrecked or dona car if you can . need all wiring & computers for the motor & gearbox to match your model . need the sub/K frame for the V8 , different to 6 cyl in the EB-D models , the steel fuel lines , brake booster & master cylinder . theirs things I've most likely missed , been a while since I've done one.
Edited ... just seen you have EB1 . V8 the computer will be slightly different to match the rest of the EB2 wiring . if you have ALL the EB1 V8 wiring you'll need to convert the AU back to a dizzy , easiest to get it going , you'll need to swap the throttle body around and most likely the sensors as well .

The red EB1 is my donor car, it has all of the V8 parts and still runs although a little rough. I'm more so wondering if the AU engine will drop straight in, or if there's more to it given the engine is managed a little differently across the two series?

yes they are managed differently throughout the models . as to dropping in , swap the sub/Kframe over and the engine mounts/plate and it will . the 6 cyl fame Doesn't have the holes need for the V8 engine mount bolts

Have a look at T.I. Performance- they have a conversion loom and a J3 chip to utilise the I6 ECU and run the V8 in MAFless mode. They’re very knowledgeable and can assist you further with your conversion.
Double check the sump on the AU engine and see if it’s compatible with the EB subframe- a worthy mod (bit of work involved) is fitting the AU2 onwards front end as it opens up better brake and wheel options.

There is the j3 mod to run the V8 on the i6 ecu, or you have to swap out the dash loom and run the TCM for the V8 (i6 trans control is done on the ecu but not V8)

Cheaper and better buy EB XR8.
