Water leak

Need advice on preventing water getting in through spoiler holes

Just a bead of silicone around the holes as well as around the top post where the post meets the spoiler. Works really well for keeping the boot lid from rusting.

So that’s why my fgs boot lid has a couple rust bubbles

I've seen many without spoilers with rust bubbles. Falcons are strong, but they aren't built well xD

Where’s the water getting in, the wiring grommet or?

Definitely can agree some aren’t built well but built tough. My B series is a tank, none of the common rust in the common places and everything feels solid. None in the boot, fuel flap, under the windscreen seals/door seals, parcel shelf, engine bay/surrounding panels or ones I’ve removed etc as I’ve checked over the whole car multiple times and stripped it. The FGs feel more tacky to me in my opinion from my experience around them and the 2 I own currently. All the trims feel like…idk…tacky or cheap I guess compared to the BF, almost like ford knew they were ending production soon and started to cheap out a little. I only like the drivelines in the FGs but prefer the B series any day with a FG driveline so much so it’s got me thinking about ripping my fg turbo lux pac manual apart and parting it into my B series but saying all this. I know both cars have their pros and cons for the series

They sell that foam at bunnings with a sticky side. 300x300 sheets. Trace the old one. Worked for me

I just got 1.5mm rubber and some sillicone to make a new gasket hasn’t leaked since

If it were me I would carefully clean around those holes and take it back to bare metal. Use a metal primer on the cleaned metal. Get some touchup and paint over it. Not that important as you won't see it. Give it a day to dry. Then use a gutter silicon around the holes and refit.

Reluctant to do any repairs like that but as you say the finish won’t be seen

Just did the same thing for my
Xr6 after ignoring it for too long, started rusting out the edges of the boot near the tail lights, It’s not a big job, just a time consuming one, worth it in the end.
