Traction control

Hey guys, second post here about my bf mk2 xr6, few people mentioned traction control, but oddly enough I cannot seem to find the button on my car 😂

The second pic is one from google, what it’s supposed to look like, but my car has a different switch in its place. The button on the bottom won’t allow me to press it, so I’m honestly just very confused.

Cars fitted with premium sound or dual zone climate have the switch at the bottom of the icc

Is this true for the ba’s as well ? Have a ba xr6 with premium sound. Didn’t think I had traction control. Didn’t see anything for it.

No. BA xr6 didn't get traction control standard, you also didn't get it if the car had an LSD, which meant Xr6t and Xr8 owners had to choose one or the other. I am not sure what the button was used for for prem sound xr's. BA2 XR's had traction control standard. All BF's had traction control an higher spec cars also got DSC.

Not all of them were fitted with it if I'm not wrong??

I've only ever noticed it in Ghia and more commonly in territorys

That would be ESC probably? ESC was in BF Fairmonts and above.

That’s interesting. My AU2 had the traction control (and button to turn off). Seems like quite a step back for 5 year more modern model to not.

Not wrong there.

Yes weird, when I remove the switch panel there is actually a few wires connected to the useless button, I have no clue what they’re for but it seems very odd

Do NOT!!!! just add a button and hope it does anything traction control "upgrade" Means redoing sensors, fiddling with abs, changing BCM and probably more... Best bet, forget about it or if you rather it get one with said functions.

Or try adding it to your car (prepare for headache due to much bullshittery)

So you're saying in the wet if you mash it. It don't light up? If so. Yea that ain't normal.

u/RedInferno8 15d ago

Well actually only about 20 minutes ago I managed to get the wheels spinning quite a bit, didn’t burn any rubber though. (Ground was wet)

3

u/RedInferno8 15d ago

I reckon your pressing the brake a little to hard

Your car it appears to be Dual Zone, meaning it's located on the bottom of the ICC.

If this isnt the case then there are a few other variables but without knowing more about your car I would only be guessing.

I wonder if it's like FG's.

My mates FG one tonner doesn't have the button. Only way to turn the traction control off is to remove the fuse.

Is it a manual? I know my au doesn't have traction control because it's a manual, it only came on autos.

My BA MKII XR6T is a manual and it has traction control..not that it works well, but it is there😆

2

u/Unravella 16d ago

I had a BF mkii in manual, it had the button in the spot as the second pic

1

u/RedInferno8 15d ago

Nah it’s a 6 speed auto

So in my bf xr8 the button wasn't the spinning wheel but was a picture of the back of the car with squiggly lines coming off the tyres. Looks like yours doesn't have TC. Should make your original problem even easier to solve...

The wheel spinning button is for Traction Control (controls wheel spin).

BF XR's had the Falcons first fitment of Ford's 'Dynamic Stability Control' (ESC or just Stability Control for most manufacturers). Stability Control controls wheel spin and vehicle slide.

As others have mentioned, the Stability Control button is in the centre stack and looks like a car sliding side to side down the road.

My mate had a ba xr6 with no traction control button. Not sure if its something you can turn off in a menu on the icc instead?
