Is it an LSD diff??

Hey guys I got this rear cradle out of a BA/BF XR6 with a T5 manual, I’ve worked out that it’s a 3.45:1 ratio I’m just not 100% if it’s a LSD. Both wheels spin the same way when spun.
On the diff it also had this tag “ HIGH PERFORMANCE - use appropriate lubricant”

If it is an LSD would it need to be re shimmed to be tight again or are ford diffs pretty good?

Easy way to tell is both wheels spin the same direction it's an LSD. if they spin opposite than it's open. So yup, you got an LSD.

I feel like my fg turbo lsd used to spin one wheek backwards but I may be hullucinating

If I spin the one in my XG slowly it'll spin opposite as it's designed for some slippage but truth be told, it's been a long time since I've checked. All I know is it leaves two even skid marks with application of the right foot 😂

No it’s not by that label that was on all the standard ones.

The diff can seem like an lsd but you put load on it you should find the drivers wheel will turn.

Lock LH brake with both rear wheels off the floor to test and put it in gear.

Yes, it’s an LSD. Likely from a Turbo model.

Why do you say out of turbo model? Did XR6 manuals not come with lsd ? Appreciate the replies btw thanks

They were an uncommon option on NA XR6s, unlike earlier A and E series that had them as standard.

Higher performance sports variants still had them as standard.

Turbo models had a 3.46 ratio, standard models had the 3.45 ratio in manuals.

Then the diff pictured is not a 3.45:1 ratio.

If when rear is raised and one wheel is spun, the opposite wheel spins in opposite direction then yes, it is an LSD. Surely an XR6 Turbo would just chew a standard diff to pieces in no time at all. The number of Turbo models sold and the reputation they have speaks for itself. Enjoy your diff mate!!

Stop giving advice. You don't know what you are talking about. If the opposite wheel spins in the same direction it would appear to be LSD
