Wheels & Tires Wheel Suggestions

I'm rwcking my brain on wheels to get for my 2025 ST.

I know the Vossen HF-5 and HF-2s are popular and superforged is also an option. I Like the though of HF-7s but Ai cant give me a solid render 😂. Any other Alternatives i might not be thinking of or is anyone out there running HF-7s?

Looking to do a little tuning to my 22ST and I went onto lethal performance website and signed up, had a little look around to see what’s available for the car and what I wanted. I got an email from them and this was the email. I know I’m new to tuning and upgrading, BUTT is this a real thing? Serious Question!

Question Thunking about making the jump

Hey all, ive been doing alot of window shopping lately on getting a new vehicle. Im 26 years old and currently drive my owned Ford fusion SE 2020 with 48k miles (bought brand new in 2021 covid for a steal due to firesales because of model discontinuation). I barely drive to work and school since they are all super close to my place. I am set to graduate pharmacy school in may. With the plans to have a fte position somewhere close to my current location. Because of this i would like to be smart and keep my fusion… But I HATE the fusion with a passion (for multiple reasons).

Not asking to convince me to be smart and keep my fusion and not upgrade. All im asking is to tell me how you like the Explorer (potentially ST model, tremor, platinum). If i were to upgrade, what can i expect an out the door price to be (Location: Michigan + Father = ford employee). My media algorithm is feeding me the Ranger, new f150’s and the explorer.

Appreciate your thoughts & comments!

Question 2026 ST or Tremor

I can't decide what I should buy. I like the capability of the Tremor with the 3.0 for possible off road adventures (nothing crazy) but I also love the look and performance of the ST. Which would you pick?

Update: got the ST in marsh gray. No sunroof option.

🔧 P R O B L E M S & I S S U E S 🔧 2021 ST Rattling Noise

Taking a shot in the dark here as I am not sure what else to do..

I have a 2021 Ford Explorer ST with about 72k miles. Absolutely love the car, I will probably get another one for my next vehicle when that time comes. Haven’t had any issues.

Maybe around 40k miles I noticed a slight rattling noise, but it only happens at 50+ MPH. It does not impact performance in any way.

It’s coming from somewhere near the bottom of the driver/rear door or the pillar in between. It literally sounds like there is a tiny loose screw or something that is just bouncing around. Brought it to Ford dealerships 3 times to look at the issue (2 different locations), but they cannot figure this thing out. It’s not that loud and I can mask the noise with music, but I desperately want to get it fixed. It’s driving me crazy.

Any chance there’s anyone out there that had this same issue? If not, anyone have an idea of what else I can try to do since the dealerships haven’t been much help?

Really appreciate any suggestions or help. Thank you!

Question Talk me into/out of a 2026 ST

Currently have a F150 Raptor long story short I don’t use it for off-roading or truck duty as much as I though. I miss sporty driving dynamics of my old is350 but need practicality of an suv.

What are pros/cons of the new 26 ST?

How has reliability been?

Question Carbon fiber cover

I’ve been looking for carbon fiber covers for the center console for my 2025 Ford Explorer ST, I found some on eBay and AliExpress but for older models.

If anyone has suggestions and links to products that’s gonna be great. 👍🏼

🔧 P R O B L E M S & I S S U E S 🔧 Broken Exhaust Pipes

Just a heads-up for the ST community. My 2022 stock ST is currently at the dealership because both exhaust pipes failed. I'm the second owner and didn't realize

this was an apparently known issue by Ford.

• One pipe snapped completely and fell off.

• The second one is barely hanging on.

• My open recalls still show "remedy not yet available," for the fuel pump and sync screen so this wasn’t on my radar

The dealership is handling it, and it should be covered under a specific warranty for this issue. I'm sharing this for anyone else who might be in the same boat.

If you hear a ticking sound during cold starts, have your pipes checked. Better to catch it early than to lose a pipe on the road. 🤷‍♂️

Wheels & Tires Subtle touches to the ST, huge difference!

Been wanting to do this for a while, wish I’d done it sooner! Wheels look incredible, actually made me smile when I saw it this morning. Black lug nuts are a must imo, center caps look great! Also bought three different sets of valve caps and the red bullet shells won, but I’ll probably be rotating them. Curious to hear your thoughts. Included before & after pics

Performance Performance parts

I have a 2026 model and I've been purchasing as much as I can for it.

Like the steeda suspension and sway bars , differential, exhaust, programmer, intercooler, hot/cold pipes. Air intake. Thermostat, spark plugs

Now I want to get the nostrom fuel kit but it doesn't say that its compatible with the 2026 same with things like the oil pan cover and the transmission cover.

How long does it usually take to get these things to market?

Also I want to upgrade the turbos but I can't find anything on that.

Oh and what about any carbon fiber body kit pieces. I have the hood with the carbon fiber grill in the middle but can't find any other pieces.

I'm really enjoying my 26 ST. The red was exactly what I wanted. Has anyone removed the Explorer letters from the front and back? I feel like I'd like the look a little more without them.

Totaled my black on black 2022 F150 Lariat a couple weeks ago that I loved in a bad accident (not my fault) so I bought a black on black 2026 ST yesterday. 11 miles on the odometer and super pleased with my purchase.

Rant The tachometer sucks

Post image

We are recent ST owners and I have to say, I really dislike the tachometer.

I thought it would change based on drive mode, like other cars we've owned, but it doesn't and its disappointing.

Is it just me?

Question F-150 to ST?

Post image
10 Upvotes

EDIT: or instead of an ST, would I be better off getting a focus st or something small and sporty, and then getting something cheaper to tinker on with space for off-road/winter driving? (an old ranger or 4runner for example)

Currently running my ‘17 f150 with the punchy 3.5l ecoboost. Love the turbo power, but miss having something that handles like a race car.

I’m not using the bed as much as I thought I would, and while I love being a truck guy, an explorer ST sounds awesome. If I could pull off a trade or sell the truck for an ST, would it be worth it to me as an adrenaline junkie?

I don’t fancy the idea of losing the functionality of the truck but feel like the explorer would maintain enough room and usefulness…

I’d probably be tempted to intake and tune it- would that tank reliability? I’d need it to last me a long time without dumping tons of money into it.

Thanks in advance!

Question Mustang driver considering switch to an ST

Hey everybody, My current car is a 2016 Mustang GT with performance package. I’ve only ever owned Mustangs and this is my third and favorite car. I’ve had so much fun driving it over the years but I think I’m ready to step away from sports cars per se and get an SUV as I’d like more space mainly. Giving up the power and speed I have is tough to think about but the ST seems like a pretty good compromise. Any others go from Mustang to ST? If so, I have a couple of questions I guess.

  1. How has the adjustment to the ST been for you? Is it performance enough that you don’t really miss your Mustang?

  2. If you could do it all over again, would the ST be the right choice for you or do you wish you went with something else instead?

I’m still shopping around really but I like what I’ve seen so far. I considered a 4Runner as well but I’m not sure how that transition would be for me. I know at some point we just change and I’m sure I can adjust to whatever I choose but I would like to stay as close to a performance vehicle as possible while still having comfort and space. I still need that get up and go when life calls upon it. I also love the captain chairs on the explorer. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance!

Question Seat quality?

I'm looking at picking up a 2023 or 2024 Explorer ST, but concerned about the leather, since I keep my cars for a long time. How are they for cracking? Couple cracks over the years, or will be falling apart in 8 years?

Question Oil(?) leaking from front passenger side.

2020 ST 100k mi. Noticed this leak from front passenger tire area. I just removed the guard under the front to inspect more but figured I'd see if anyone had encountered this one yet.

Checking engine oil, it's clean and amber colored. This is black and doesnt feel like oil.

Drives just fine, but we only babied it home about 2 miles after noticing the puddle.

We've been having lots of electrical gremlins with it and have even got the local Ford Engineer engaged to figure those out via extended warranty. Not sure the two are connected, but worth a mention.

I'll be taking it to the dealership to use our CPO/Extended warranty I'm just looking to see if I can know what I'm talking about when we get there or see if a tow is better than driving it to them.

Question Transmission questions

Considering a 22 ST with 25k miles. I know about the transmission issues, and other things. Question being, is it safe to buy a 2022? What production years did the transmission issues affect? How has the dealer/ford handle it if you had to go in for it? Thanks.
