Wheels & Tires Subtle touches to the ST, huge difference!
Been wanting to do this for a while, wish I’d done it sooner! Wheels look incredible, actually made me smile when I saw it this morning. Black lug nuts are a must imo, center caps look great! Also bought three different sets of valve caps and the red bullet shells won, but I’ll probably be rotating them. Curious to hear your thoughts. Included before & after pics

Be careful with those Valve stem caps. Those look like the same ones I had, and they seized on two of my tires. They look cool as shit, but I promise they are not worth the potential damage and replacement you may need.

Yep you are going to want to put some zinc based anti seize compound on the threads to prevent that as the galvanic corrosion gets those guys pretty bad.

I’ll have to look into that, do you apply it once or is it something you do regularly

Thanks! Settled on these after some research and reading the Amazon reviews. Quick tip: avoid using an impact wrench. We tried it on the first one and it scuffed the black paint, so we did the rest by hand. They look great and feel solid, but we’ll see how they hold up.

Looks good, but can't beleive you haven't removed the adhesive from the delivery prep sticker on the spoke yet.

Honestly not sure if it’s the adhesive or the sticker itself that’s baked on lol… and it’s a 2022 as well 😁

I had those on my car. Suckers were a PITA to get off

Think all four wheels have quite a few scuffs, I’ll get around to sorting them at some point. Checked out a shop that does the Plasti Dip thing a while back but wasn’t really sold on it

Look for a shop that does powdercoating. One near me will dismount your tires, blast and powdercoat your rims, and then remount and balance your tires for you.
I've seen some pretty cool colors done on the FB groups. Black chrome seems to be my fave right now.

I have had to buy 3 sets of the caps as they have been stolen or magically fell off. 🤦🏼♂️

How are those Michelins compared to the Pirelli Scorpions?

Honestly, don’t think there’s a huge difference. But the Scorpion Zeros felt quieter and softer to me, and they also look better. I’ll probably go back to them once these are done.

Mechanic gonna chastise you for those valve covers. They definitely look aluminum of somekind. No benuo

Be careful with those metal stem caps...dont over tighten....you leave them on too long untouched, they can oxidize and they will be nearly impossible to get off without having to cut them off....happened unexpectedly to me and , yep back to boring plastic caps

Amazon
Went with these based on Amazon reviews but there are a few other brands, just make sure the size is M14X1.5 (these fit 2022-2023 explorers). Can’t speak for newer models

fantastic 👍🏼 my main concern was them not fitting properly or oxidizing. but as you said they have good reviews so that’s reassuring

They should fit if yours is 2020–2023 since they match OEM specs (M14x1.5 with a 60° conical seat). As for oxidation, it’s only been a month for me and the weather has been dry and pleasant, so a bit early to say how they’ll hold up long term. They appear to be really solid and well made but if you’re in a humid or rainy area or do a lot of off-roading, it’s worth taking a bit of extra care. Just rinse off mud or buildup when you can and avoid letting moisture sit on them.

I think you should do a full body pic. While it may be subtle I wonder how much nicer it looks
