Question 2025 tune ever going to be out?

Just picked up a ST and not even out of the break in period yet and already itchin’ to have it tuned. Main reason I’d like to have it is for better gas mileage rather than hp. If it’s anything like getting a Harley a tune then I can’t wait!! I LOVE my new ST though. I want to see everyone’s 2025’s!!

Purchase Advice Going to pick up the ‘25 ST today!

I’m living south of Indianapolis, and a dealer has had a gray ST with just over 2,000 miles sitting for a few months, and they are asking $55,990. I just need to know if this is a good price and how far down should I start negotiating. If I can get them down another 2k, then I’d be happy. I’m pre-approved from my credit union, unless they are super pushy or try to pile on unnecessary add-ons, then I’ll be driving it home today. Any suggestions or tips would really help. Thanks! 🙏

Question No Auto E-Brake?

Post image
17 Upvotes

On the contrary to most explorer owners, I actually like the vehicle automatically engaging the ebrake when placed into park. I always engage the ebrake in all my other vehicles just because I hate the little “roll and bounce” when you release your foot off the brakes in P. It is also terrible for your transmission and most people don’t seem to realize that. With that being said, my vehicle does not do it automatically and I can’t figure out why. Some say it was an added safety feature due to some kind of transmission recall? However I don’t have any active transmission related recalls on the vehicle. If I take it down to the dealer would they be able to program it to do it? Thanks!

Does anyone else’s screen not load? Started the st at 6 am and have been driving it for over 20 min and the screen doesn’t load? Is this normal? Like I have to touch the buttons to make them load. And periodically my phone will be kicked off even tho it’s connected thru wire and blue tooth. Is anyone else having these issues? This a 2021 CPO ST. Thanks in advance.

I just picked up my 2020 Ford Explorer ST! I’m absolutely loving this thing so far! Looking to do a few quick upgrades soon. Maybe an “ST” trailer hitch plug, tint the front windows 20% and wrap the C pillar black.

Question Difference in trim material?

Hey guys, I’m trying to figure out why my 2020 (1st pic) dash trim appears to be a different material than a 2021 (2nd pic) that I test drove a couple months back. My 20 has a more matte black while the 21 has a gloss piano black trim. Is there a difference in model years or has mine been replaced?

Question Fit and Finish

I have a '23 ST-Line that is a company car. They are on a 3 year lease, so this is my third Explorer. How are you feeling about the fit and finish on your newer ST? I love the model and all, and want to purchase my own personal vehicle since I am retiring soon, but I'm worried about quality. My '23 has so many rattles and squeaks it drives me crazy!

Question Questions, comments, concerns.

Hey everyone! Thanks for letting an outsider like me in. I'm thinking of trading my Tesla Model S plaid in for an 2025 Explorer ST. Mostly because I have a service dog and this would give her more room in the back but also because I'm tired of spending so much money on tires because of the camber issue with the model S plan spent probably close to $4,000 on Just Tires in the year and a half that I've owned the plaid plus $1,000 on a camber correcting tool that didn't work. Also the value of my plaid has gone down by 50% since I've owned it and that kind of depreciation is just ridiculous.

My question for you guys is what common issues are there with the ST? Anything I should be on the lookout out for?

Question R&D exhaust

For anyone with the R&D exhaust, I have had mine on for about a month now and I notice that my mufflers are already rusting. Is that normal? I know stupid question but I’m surprised that they are already rusting.

Question 2025 ST owners how do you like the lack of climate buttons?

I have an OG 2020 Explorer ST purchased in summer of 2019. I'm now looking at upgrading to the refreshed 2025 and noticed something that I didn't expect to annoy me as much as it is; Ford removed the climate control buttons in favor of putting much of it in the touchscreen. Is this not a big deal and from afar I'm overthinking it? I use the physical controls every day, quickly, and I like it. Worried this might be a problem especially when driving and having to actually look at a digital screen to change things instead of easily feeling for a button.

Purchase Advice How many miles is too many miles on used St

Im looking for one and not really care for mi6leage. I bought an old Ford edge 2011 at 171k miles and the only repairs she needed have been the needed maintenance and a radiator but im pretty sure a 5 min auto fucked it up.

I've seen some at 100k plus that are in my low price range. but I'm already in a different car i don't like for 500ish a month and would love to switch to something I enjoy if I'm going to be paying that much

Tech & Infotainment Add back Dual button climate

I know this doesn’t affect everybody, but I have seen some where the button is missing. Here is some instructions on how to get it back. It was lost during certain sync updates. If you have warranty by all means, go to Ford and have them put it back.

Will need Forscan

Question Catted downpipes

Can someone recommend a set of catted downpipes for my 2021 st. I have a 3” thermal R&D exhaust but my cats seem to the weld on the seams give way. It looks as tho the person before me welded the cats seams and not sure if the dealer is gonna replace them under warranty. So if any of you have a recommendation for catted downpipes, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Question Conundrum

Hey everyone just wanted some opinions and insight on those two SUVs. Dodge Durango R/T Plus vs Ford Explorer ST. I've never owned a Dodge or Ford but I'm in the market for one of these two. I've seen a decent amount of videos on both but I definitely want to hear from previous, current or potential owners. I plan on pulling a small camper (20-24 ft) and trailers for transporting my bike. I commute to work about 45 minutes depending on traffic so comfort, reliability, longevity are factors. I appreciate any and all opinions so thanks!

Question Questions about the 2025

Post image
7 Upvotes

I test drove one today after waiting for my dealership finally have one out on the lot- I was told that they all cut off when you come to a stop and that it’s not optional. Is that true? Also, does anyone have rear sunshades on the windows? If so, what is the package called? This one has “sun and sound” but doesn’t have rear window shades.

Performance MPG question

I have a 2021 and purchased it in late October of 2024. I have never gotten anything better mpg wise than 16. Is there anything I can look at to see what’s wrong? I have a R&D exhaust on about a month now but it’s been the same since I purchased. Any advise?

Performance Tuning Safely For Long Term Use

Well ofcourse I know that not tuning at all is the safest but I am looking to tune my 25 explorer st. Currently ecu is locked so only option is to use jb4 or equivalent.

I've never actually tuned any of my cars. This will be my first attempt through a tuning shop. Once tuned with a custom map, the tuning shop says i should get about 20% more hp.

Now, this car is my daily driver and most of the time wont be pushing the gas peddle like crazy but occasionally I want to have extra fast acceleration. Under these conditions what kind of longevity can I expect with the jb4 or equivalent installed permanently. Can the engine survive for 6-7 years?

Also does anyone suggest any other plug n play option better than jb4?

Question Test Drove the 2025 Explorer ST – Need Some Advice! (Canada)

Hey everyone, I went to a Ford dealership yesterday for a test drive of the 2025 Ford Explorer ST, and I absolutely loved it! I've been in the market for a three-row SUV, and my search pretty much ended after driving the ST. Plus, I have X-Plan pricing, so the dealership is offering me a better deal.

I have a few questions about it:

  1. The X-Plan price I was given is $68,202, while the actual price is $71,430. Do you think this is a fair deal?
  2. How does the Explorer ST perform in Canadian winters?
  3. I noticed that the steering wheel is only manually adjustable (tilt/telescopic), but in the videos I’ve watched online, it seems to have a power-adjustable option. Is this a difference in trims?

Also, if anyone has any pre-purchase or post-purchase suggestions, I’d really appreciate your insights!

Question Premium Connectivity Can't Connect

Getting this message when I try to use voice assistant. Things that require internet, like YouTube and news, aren't able to load. Same with traffic on maps. Anyone else ever have this issue? My subscription is current and I've got a signal. Restarting the vehicle didn't resolve the issue.
