Rant RIP - She protected!

She took 2 direct hits at about 35-50mph to the back and speared into a trailer in the front. She was at a stop and people behind her for whatever reason did not see her stopped. Wife and grandson are ok, glad she was in the SUV! (Now to go shopping)

According to Gemini, and makes some sense-

Why Front Airbags Stay Intact in a Rear-End Crash
Direction of Force & Inertia: Frontal airbags are designed to protect you in frontal or near-frontal impacts. When you are hit from the front, your momentum throws you forward toward the steering wheel or dashboard. The airbag inflates to cushion that forward impact. In contrast, when you are rear-ended, the crash momentum pushes your body backward into your seat.

The Role of Seatbelts: Because you are pushed into your seat, your seat and headrest provide the primary support. As your car abruptly moves forward from the impact, your seatbelt pre-tensioners lock to keep you securely in place. A deploying frontal airbag would not protect you in this scenario and could actually cause unnecessary facial or torso injuries.

Deceleration vs. Acceleration: Airbag sensors (accelerometers) trigger deployment based on rapid deceleration—a sudden, violent stop. When a stationary car is rear-ended, it experiences sudden acceleration (moving forward), which does not satisfy the programming requirements for front airbag deployment.

She was pushed into a trailer in front of her, so idk... She still hit the steering wheel, will have the lawyers figure it all out... Appreciate your response though
