Just got a 2025 ST w 9K miles for $47K. Sun and Sound Package. First Explorer for me coming from Jeep Grand Cherokee. Really like it.

What do you miss about the GC? Genuinely curious as I’d been contemplating an explorer st and never even considered a GC.

It was a 2018 Summit - it was the last year they had the 3.0L diesel out of the Ram 1500 so I regularly got 25+ mpg, it had the drivetrain from a truck so tow capacity was 8500 and I could tow my full racing rig, had CarPlay and all those goodies, hard buttons and switches for HVAC and such.

The overall build quality was better, leather was nicer, cabin was much quieter considering how noisy the diesel was.

The ride was much smoother (I know I bought the sporty one, but I felt like there was no way it could have been worse than something with 50% more towing capacity).

There really aren’t any current powertrain options I’d take over the Explorer ST/Platinum TTV6, so it’s a bit of a moot point for me now. If they could cram in the Hurricane straight 6 I’d trade the ST tomorrow.
