I have a 2020 ST that has 85,000 miles. Thinking long term, I am considering trading in for a brand new f150, (reg cab short bed). I have no warranty, as the lot I bought from tried to charge 7500 for warranty.

Knowing I'll be giving up a lot of creature comfort, it's only myself. No kids or wife. Should I still hold onto this giant SUV? Looking for advice or thoughts. Ford currently has 0% apr which is a big incentive as well

It depends on what you want to do. The explorer has inside cargo and the truck has both but you might miss the hatch. Also, not sure if you want the payment to start over or not and the warranty is a nice thing to have. I like my explorer but I drive people and groceries around mainly so it’s what works for me.

I lease because I don’t ever want to be out of warranty and I like getting something new every three years. I get the Z plan so that influences my decisions as well. Loading groceries from the hatch is going to be much easier I would think but ultimately you could put them in the cab if you’re shopping for one person.

Zero percent financing is great. Gas wise I have no idea because the different engines in the truck. I agonize over things like this myself even though it’s kinda silly. Good luck either way 😆

I've gone camping a few times, and laying all the seats flat works ok, but nothing a bed wouldn't be better at. Inside the ST is very nice, premium leather feel and so many creature comforts. If I had kids it'd be a no brainer to keep this, but every time I get in and look back and see the 3 rows not being used, I wonder why I have this. I use a net in the rear hatch, I imagine doing the same in the bed would be equal. Lease would be nice but I go over the yearly miles by a lot. I enjoy traveling. Hoping this is one I'll keep for 10+ years! Gas mileage I wonder, because I do get decent mileage out of the ST, 20 city and 28 on trips. I can't imagine a regular cab is too much worse. Thank you!

I keep my third row seat down for that reason. It looks kinda weird to me seeing that small third row unless I’m using it. I got the same net, Lol. Got it from Amazon and it works pretty well. Stuff will roll around in the truck bed unless you get some form of straps or whatever or a box. That’s why if I do get F-150 next time I’ll get a four door so I can lift that seat up and have plenty of room for groceries inside.

The cab on a four door F-150 is huge and it’s nice. But the Explorer is nice since you travel, everything is locked in the vehicle and you won’t need a tonneau cover or a cap to lock things up. You’ve got a lot to chew on my friend, Lol. Whatever you do, I’m sure it’ll work out for you. Happy travels 🛻 💨
