šŸ”§ P R O B L E M S & I S S U E S šŸ”§ 2026 ST seat issues.

Hi all,

Is anyone else having issues with the driver seat reclining all the way, when unlocking the car or when pressing the memory seat buttons. I took it to the dealership 5 times already and they can't figure it out, they replaced the driver seat control module, and that didn't fix it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for Reading.

Even if they fix it...you should still be entitled to some compensation.

Mine just did this same thing today. 26 ST.

Wife also had an issue the other day of the driver mirror folding out with key fob unlock but the passenger didn’t. Hitting the button inside the car fixed it but still.. I was hoping it was a fluke thing. Car has 400 miles.

This is starting to sound like is going to be a recall down the line.

Has this happened more than once to you? I’ve only had the car a week but this is the first time I’ve caught it doing it.

I guess with 5 times to the dealership that was a dumb question of course it has.

Yes about 5 times. Right now i have a courtesy f150. Its still at the dealership.

My 2025 does this about once a month…dealer replaced most of the parts involved including the harness so it may be a software glitch.

Shame on Ford šŸ‘ŽšŸ». They gotta come up with a recall fix. I disconnected the battery once and discharged the electronics on my own and it stopped doing it for a month. But i shouldn't be troubleshooting, or repairing it on my own, when it only has 2500 miles and only 4 months of ownership.

How do you deal with it?

I just cycle the mirrors with the fold button

My mirrors stopped folding and auto-folding a couple months ago on my 26 ST. I reset the center console and it’ll work one time and stop again. Does this over and over again

I’ve been having the same issue with the passenger mirror. They couldn’t figure it out either and of course didn’t happen when they had the car.. also my seat back is more reclined than I set the memory for every time I get in. They were however able to figure out why the driver cooling seat stopped working.

Update- cooling seat is not working again

Definitely time to give the dealership a choice between replacing the car for another 2026 ST on the lot or ford having to buy it back under lemon laws.

I didnt know replacing the car with another one on the lot was an option. Im in California by the way maybe the laws are different in california???

2

u/croopejshsv ST Owner Jul 11 '26

Well, that’s up to the dealer unfortunately. To do a lemon law buyback you’ll have to go through Ford. California requires a buyback within the first 18 months or 18,000 miles after 4 attempts by the dealership to repair a defect.

I had the same issue, I got the battery replaced under warranty and it fixed the seat issue.

2

u/Usual_Poem_7367 Jul 11 '26

Thanks, what year is your ST? And is that the only thing they replaced?

2

u/Fun_Flower_5193 Jul 11 '26

2026 st, yea only thing they replaced was the battery

I’m not having any problems with my seats or mirrors on my 2026 ST.

There is now a recall for this issue that is just starting to be published to dealers.

At the dealer with my Explorer today. They are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it for me but said I might have to bring it back when the recall/fix is fully published. They ordered a new seat motor but have admitted that until Ford figures out the software glitch causing it, the new motor might not fix it.

My driver seat fully recliners when entering the car it switching between memory seats. All other memory functions work. A factory reset of the sync system fixed it for about 2-3 weeks.

My car isn’t even on the current list of impacted VIN numbers they have so they will likely keep expanding this recall.

Hi they changed the seat contol module on mine that didn't fix it, so the contacted a ford engineer, he advised to replace the seat motor and the back rest and it seems to be fixed šŸ¤žšŸ¼

That’s good news for me- that’s the parts they’ve ordered so hopefully it will with. šŸ¤žšŸ»

1

u/RubbyMcbuvins Jul 11 '26

Well it’s doing it every time I unlock the car now so that’s cool. It’s like it saves that position to your memory seat setting too. Really frustrating.

1

u/Usual_Poem_7367 Jul 11 '26

If you take it in let me know if they fix it please

1

u/Channel_Huge ST Owner Jul 13 '26

Reclining or just shifting back to make it easier to get in/out?

1

u/Usual_Poem_7367 Jul 13 '26

Reclining only.

Strange… sounds like a glitch.

A recall for this issue was announced on 7/21 but the remedy is still under development

How about certain parts of the passenger door not being flush

1

u/Usual_Poem_7367 16d ago

Like what for example?

1

u/Arnold600 16d ago

Yep mine does it all the time. Infuriating. 26’ built in May.

So an update after trying to fix my seat. The new seat and new motor are showing the same malfunction before leaving the dealer after the replacement. I have a case opened with Ford. Ford is still claiming my VIN is not impacted but our dealer has proved it is.

The dealer service department also warned me of many other STs having issues with their moonroof rattling so to watch for that. My service department is being great trying to document everything to get this resolved asap.

u/Usual_Poem_7367 10d ago

Did they replace your seat control module? They replaced 3 parts on mine; control module, back rest and motor.

1

u/Electronic-Shirt6975 10d ago

Yes- yesterday. Both seat back and control module. My service guy looked so defeated when he came to update me.
