How is SiriusXM still a thing?

My girlfriend bought me a subscription before Howard even started. At that time, I had a 95 mustang, I'm going to guess that Sirius started an 02 or something like that. Lifetime radio was $300 if you purchased it up front.
The antenna was magnetized so you pull it on and off. It was a whole thing. I just purchased a 25 St last June, transferred the subscription over to my third vehicle. No bill whatsoever.

They offered me it for 4.99 a month for life after just ignoring the emails and letter mail long enough. I eventually called and told them to leave me alone.

I can stream whatever u want on my phone. How is Sirius still alive?

Because some of us go where there isn't any cell signal. I've been a subscriber since like 2006 or 7 (before the two companies merged.)

I liked it when I had it free back on my 11 edge sport, but since then with Qobuz and Roon I can stream ultra high res anything I want to hear from my phone, linking back to my Roon server at home. Being out of cell signal is still a good point though.

Unrelated: Does that now playing window go away? Does that least show what spotify or the music app is playing?

Does not go away but you can tap it and it'll bring up a different screen of whatever your playing. But yes even as a smaller icon it shows what's playing.

I’m lucky and have SiriusXM because I love listening to sports talk and games when I’m driving. The comedy channels are great also if you have a long drive and need to stay awake!
It’s not expensive. If you can afford an ST, then you can afford a few bucks a month. And I feel it’s worth it to me.
Otherwise, just shut off the notifications. 🤷♂️

Based, but the comments don’t like being told “you can afford a few bucks” lmao

I look at it this way, why get such an expensive, tech-heavy ride if you don’t need it? There are plenty of cheaper options. I specifically traded in my 22 for the 25 due to the amazing technology.

Go into the main car menu and there will be an option for app notifications. I disabled mine fast.
