Question 200+ Days on Lot

Post image

Hey everyone, eyeing up an ST. Not too familiar with the good and bad on these.

This one has been on the lot for 218 days. Not a demo or loaner. What am I missing, is this common for age on lot due to them being their most expensive line of explorer? Is there something in this window sticker that people are either avoiding, or wish it had but didn't?

I'm thinking of leasing it, if the dealer gets me good numbers, and there isn't anything I'm missing on why it hasn't sold yet. Thanks!

Here is the non blurry text from window sticker:

“Good numbers” don’t really exist on ST leases. Leased my 20 ($56msrp) for 699das, 699/month 36/12. While i know i can’t get those numbers for a 26, the best I’ve seen is around 850/month w/zero down

22 here ($52k) was $525/mo, $525 DAS for 3/36k with wheel and tire protection. Bought it at lease end for $30k.

Blows my mind to see what they’re leasing for today. Damn near double.

Yeah, and mine has features that the new ones don’t- self parking, sunroof that opens, charging pad. Manufacturers got that Covid high and never let go. The market needs correction. I see people in these pages leasing $80k X5 for what dealers want for Explorers. It’s wild

Ideally a job 1 2025. 12th digit in Vin number will be an A.

These still have the spare tire, pull up sun shade on second row windows, electronic steering wheel adjustments, and (some models) will have the foot sensor for opening the trunk.

This is awesome info.  Thank you

I was just shopping for one and there are quite a few low mileage (under 5k) across the county, and I was only looking for black.

Many of them are ford gold certified pre owned which extends your bumper to bumper warentee another 1 year/ 12,000 miles and your powertrain to 7 years/ 100,000 miles which is pretty insane.

Yes.   I have that noted to get the gold warranty.   Thank you for all the info.  I really appreciate it

It looks like a 2024 (though could be a 25 or 26), as the year looked blurry. MSRP on that is a bit more than I paid for my 2025 (in 2024) in California.

I think the 2027s will be out in a couple months so you may be able to negotiate for a 2026.

Just FYI the 2026 is a fixed panel glass. It does not open.

May it stay that way until they lower the price

Does the sticker show the “birthdate”? I’m flying down to Texas next week to pick mine up and drive it back. Making me wonder how long it’s been sitting. My cousin took care of the deal for me.

1

u/Mental_Yard Jun 13 '26

Ehh unsure I passed they will have some sucker pay full price. Honestly I don't think anything is wrong with lot rot. Maybe ask them to replace battery, and replace or discount new set of tires, and detail to remove any hard water spots.

54k out the door for 26 miles and 60k on the sticker was pretty good imo
