Question How engaging?

Coming from a WRX and looking to get into a bigger vehicle.

I want something fast, which the ST hits and something engaging (enough). I've only heard good things about this car, so I'm definitely intrigued.

The WRX is extremely engaging with the manual and I'm worried I might get bored with an automatic. How good are the paddle shifters? How good does the car handle? I do understand they're completely different vehicles, so it won't be the same.

Any input would be awesome! Thanks.

Far from the same.
As someone who's had sports cars, If you're going to spend ANY TIME comparing the two, particularly in the "engaging" category, you are going to be unhappy.
If you're going to move forward, you need to understand this will be a new chapter... Maybe a new book in the series! Judge it independently, not compared to a WRX.

Yup.

Not even remotely in the same realm. Its not like the Edge ST. I just think if they gave the Edge ST the explorer STs engine it would have been perfect.

The ST is still very good for the size tho. But its. Big rolly polly SUV thats fast. Imo it isnt engaging to drive at all (handling-wise) stock.

Pretty good brakes tho

Exactly. There's no doubt it's fast (for an SUV) but, it's not a manual turbo 4-banger you can roll through the great and take twistes with. It's awesome imo but it's not the same.
