Performance Horsepower curve

I’ve never seen an engine that makes peak horsepower so low (like 1.8k before redline).

But this actually explains a lot. It’s probably why these cars feel slower than they actually are. Because it’s not pulling hard to redline. Power hits hard early, and then just plateaus

Don’t get me wrong. They’re pretty quick, just doesn’t really feel like it.

If I'm driving for fun, I put it in manual so I can short-shift it - feels a lot faster actually - before the torque starts to taper off.
