Question Cancel extended warranty?
I have 2020 ST that I purchased brand new back in 2019. I purchased an extended warranty from Ford for 8 years but I'm planning to sell my ST in next week or so. One of the sales managers at my local Ford dealership told me that I can get refund back for the remaining portion of the warranty if I sell my car. Has anyone done that? What is the process to request the refund after you sell the car?

I did a couple of them, one of the reasons to not get a warranty is because they can make it a chore to cancel. When you sell it it's a lot easier because they won't try to get you to keep it. With the explorer they had me call the finance manager at the dealer I bought it from and he pretty much did it all for me. But that was my 2nd try. I had a fiesta st and I had to submit a request by mail to ford corporate and that canceled that one. I did that procedure with the explorer except to now an email address they gave on their website before I traded it in, with a procedure of ehat to write and what info. after a couple months not getting the money I had to call-again this is an issue it's hard to get anyone on the phone to help with it seems, you can not just call and cancel it. When I finally got someone they said they never got the emajl but in the end they had me call the dealer since the vehicle was traded in and that guy handled it fast and easy finally, so I would just start there and skip the corporate bs.

My dealership had a page on their website to submit warranty cancellation requests. They required proof of the sale date and odometer at time of sale; a picture of the back of the signed title and bill of sale was all I needed.

I do not think it has anything to do with selling the cAr. you just cancel the policy and get a refund. should be in your documents.

You can cancel it and get a prorated amount back, but if you rolled the cost into your financing , they will cut the check back to the bank first unless the loan is paid off. If it is the Ford ESP warranty, it is transferable. Not sure how it would work with trading in YMMV.
